The Poolewe Cèilidh Partnership

The Poolewe Cèilidh Partnership The Poolewe Cèilidh Partnership (P.C.P.) http://pooleweceilidhnights.org/ Our ceilidhs are not licensed, but you are welcome to bring your own wine or beer.

is a group of volunteers who run a series of cèilidh dances throughout the summer each year to promote traditional music and fundraise for local good causes. Our series of traditional ceilidhs run throughout the summer each year in Poolewe on Scotland's North-West coast. A ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a social gathering, with song, dance, tunes and stories, and a drink and bite to eat. The Pool

ewe Ceilidh Partnership was founded in 2007, and in 2008 we were delighted to be awarded the coveted Highlands and Islands Tourism Award for Community Tourism. Our ceilidhs feature a superb visiting Scottish traditional band, joined by local pipers, singers, dancers and instrumentalists. There is a chance to join in with the dances, and a caller and volunteer partners are ready to help if you don’t know the dances. If you prefer, you can just sit and watch the dancers and listen to the musicians and enjoy the craic. During the interval, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and some home-baking, all included in the admission price. Soft drinks are available to purchase. There will also be a raffle in aid of a local good cause. Our ceilidhs are suitable for all ages, and we have good access and toilets for disabled visitors. Some comments from our visitor's book:
“A great night, one of the highlights of the holiday.”
“Our first ceilidh and hopefully not our last! Thoroughly enjoying the tradition and glad to see the youngsters are too.”
“What a good idea, locals and visitors together. Excellent evening!”
“Loved the family friendly atmosphere, great dancers and community spirit.”

Well folks, better late than never! 😆
We hope everyone has had a great start to 2026.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for coming along in the wintery conditions on the 1st of January ❄️ To say we are excited for summer weather is an understatement ☀️

We would also like to thank a few people who were a massive part of putting the Hoolie in the Hall together. First off, Ben, he kicked off the evening, sounding amazing as always - make sure to come and see him in the summer 🎶 Thank you also to Chailein MacLeod who battled the snow to get to Poolewe to play and get you all warmed up dancing 💃 We have to thank the fantastic Ali Buckets 🪗 Ewan MacDonald🎹 Darren Brown 🥁and Abigail Pryde🎻🎤 for what was an unbelievable evening of music!

We are so appreciative of the volunteers who took time out to help us. Bianca and Gwen helped Elaine on the bottle tombola raising funds for the Poolewe Hall. Many thanks to our last minute kitchen queens Mel and Mags, and to Ruan and Kirsty who helped prep the food earlier on the day! 🥔
Farran who helped assemble the stage and Luciana who braved the cold to help Karen Welcome you all in the door. And definitely not forgetting ‘Bouncer Buckets’ who kept an eye on you all! Lastly a big thank you to Elaine and Gary who snuck into the hall on the morning of the 2nd to start cleaning up before us, we were so so grateful! All these folks have been our saving grace when it came to the day 👏

Head over to our YouTube to see the videos as Facebook won’t let us upload them. https://youtube.com/?si=cFMsy967JZZnbTK_ 📸

Keep tuned in for our next events as we will be updating the 2026 Summer season soon ☺️☀️

It is three years since the Poolewe Ceilidhs were revived after lockdown, with a new team at the helm. Since then, we have had some amazing nights of music and dance – not to mention the great finger food! We have also distributed nearly £5000 among the local charities who have helped us make the ceilidh nights so successful.

Support from visitors and locals attending the ceilidhs has been fantastic. However, it is a lot of work running the events, and it currently falls on the shoulders of just three people - all of whom are busy girls working several jobs. We would really appreciate a bit of practical help on the ceilidh nights.

The stage needs to be set up and taken down every week. Chairs have to be set out, banners and decorations put up etc. We would love to hear from anyone who could set aside a Wednesday evening next July or August to take a turn at this. Just drop us a msg on Facebook please.

Well folks, we are missing cèilidhs, but do not worry… We have plans in the works that we will be sharing with you all very soon! 🤫

First we would like to share a wee appreciation post about our fantastic piper Ben. He is a literal star! ⭐️ Over the last 2 summer cèilidh seasons, Ben has been performing for us all every week, he has been nothing but incredible! We have seen his confidence grow, his technique improve massively 👏 and most of all he can certainly entertain the audience🎶

Here are some of his best bits (we struggled to choose), we hope to always see Ben back in Poolewe hall in the coming years! Finishing off his final year of school this year as a school captain 📚 and we can see why! ☺️ Hope you enjoy listening to his music.

Last Wednesday we said goodbye to the Poolewe Summer Ceilidhs 2025 😢! We went out in style, with the fantastic Anndra Cu***ng & Friends 🪗.

Anndras band managed to break a record set only 2 weeks ago, 24.5 minutes of strip the willow! 🥵 safe to say the hall was roasting! Well done to all that was part of that dance, some way to finish the year off! We might have to set a limit as we fear we will end up with a 1 hour long strip the willow in the near future 😂

Many thanks to Gairloch Primary Parent Council, provided some fantastic food and raffle prizes! 💐

A huge well done and thank you to Ben! Piping us in to every ceilidh, entertaining the crowd and dancing almost every dance!💃
We admire his confidence and courage as well as the practice and time he puts in to showing off his amazing talent! ☺️

Fear not, we aren’t done yet! 😉
Summer is over soon, but winter is coming and with more announcements to come! Keep up to date by our social media and email us with any questions - [email protected]

Finally, a thank you to all that came along this year to any of the summer ceilidhs, we hope you had a lovely time and would love to see you next year! 🤩 If you have any photos or videos of a ceilidh this summer, either leave them in the comments or send them to us via Messenger!

See you all very soon! ❤️
