Baby chocolate cake 💖

These little 4 inchers always take me back to the first lockdown. Oh, summer 2020!
I was baking cakes like this one most days, for friends and family, and for strangers who took a chance on me. The nerves I got every time someone would collect a cake! While I’m glad that period of my life couldn’t feel any further away now, I am so grateful for that time, not only for the fact I was totally protected, safe and with my family, but for how much I learned, and how much my confidence, sense of self and purpose grew.

Anyway, I’m not sure what the point is, except that good things come to those who wait (and those who bake, too).

My most favourite cake ever ever ever! I made ’s chocolate malt cake for my brother-in-law’s 40th (almost a year late lol).

I had the absolute joy of visiting Milk Bar in New York back in 2016 and have been dreaming of the malt coffee milkshake I had there ever since 💔 this cake is my go-to for extra special occasions (and for anyone with as sweet a tooth as me).
There is a lot going on here so let’s break it down:
With each mouthful there are crunchy malt nuggets, charred mini marshmallows, chocolate fudge sauce, the softest chocolate sponge you will ever devour and a very American malt chocolate buttercream. Sweet, salty, malty and delicious. It’s almost too much... almost.
