HELLLOO, 2023!! We have some big news, but first, let’s begin the year with a few words of gratitude..

I am grateful..
✨ For our wonderful team of bakers,
✨ For the support of our customers,
✨ For personal growth and the growth of Blondie Bakes every. single. year!

If any of you have had even a 5-minute conversation with me, you’ll know that I LOVE the idea of changing things up! It’s what inspires me to grow - daring to take the leap and figuring it out along the way. If these past two years have taught us anything, it’s that it’s okay—dare I say even healthy—to change direction toward the next meaningful experience.

With that, I have chosen not to renew Blondie Bakes’ lease in Kauppakeskus Citycenter. We will be closing our doors at the end of the day on the 14th of January, after nearly 9 years of having the privilege of being in service to our customers and our employees.

We have lived such an exciting chapter and we’re grateful that there is no drama surrounding this decision—thanks to all of you, I have not lost a single wink of sleep worrying about Blondie Bakes—but not all of life’s decisions are business decisions, and Mr. Blondie and I simply can’t wait to experience what else life has in store for us!

A little housekeeping for those who may have questions..
- If you have gift cards, please stop by the shop and collect some goodies! We have frozen, ready-to-bake goodies and easy-to-bake dry ingredient mixes if you want to save some treats for later!
- If you have orders in our schedule - no worries - we’ll fulfill them! Just stop by the shop for pick-up as planned.
- You can also make new orders with us for pick-up during these two weeks. We will accept orders as long as our baking schedule allows and the last day for pick-up will be the 14th of January by 19:00.

I can’t even begin to put into words how much we value the past few years. We’ve made wonderful friends, met people from all walks of life, and grown in ways we couldn’t have imagined - all thanks to YOU! So, please know, we did not take this decision lightly… We are beyond grateful for all of the moments you’ve allowed us to share with you! 💜

It’s Small Business Saturday! 🙌

We know that sometimes it’s easier and cheaper to shop from large chains. And we also know that shopping at those places creates much-needed employment, so we don’t want them to disappear! BUT we also hate the idea that small businesses would disappear because of them. Soooo… we’re here to encourage you to shop locally and small when it makes sense. As a bonus, we’ve got a few less obvious suggestions for supporting locally-owned businesses year-round!

1. Support artists and one-man bands. A business that isn’t hiring (yet) is still a business! Help them get where they’re going, and you’d be amazed at how quickly they can grow!

2. Eat at a locally owned and operated cafe or restaurant. Let’s do our part to create neighborhood staples.

3. Buy Gift Cards and send them to friends, family, or anyone needing a treat! Hair, nails, food, books, you name it - everyone loves to know someone was thinking of them.

4. Leave a positive review for a small business you love. For some, social proof is their only means of marketing. When someone is doing things right - let’s make sure others know about it!

5. Buy from businesses owned by historically marginalized groups. Celebrate unique and diverse cultures - you just might learn something.. We can’t think of a more beautiful thing!
