With Christmas coming up, butter biscuits, whatever biscuits and ginger biscuits can be a very acceptable to accompany morning coffee or afternoon tea at holiday time.

Adding cocoa powder, dried cranberries, dessicated coconut, flaked or chopped almonds or chocolate chips to the basic butter biscuit recipe gives you an unlimited choice of presentation.

At home, Nannie Sheila's ginger snaps are a firm favourite, not forgetting the classic gingerbread biscuits too. Neither last for long!!😂😋

Smoothie time is here!
Today's is made with oats, pineapple, melón, banana, ice cubes and pineapple 0% yoghurt.
Delicious....and so refreshing!

And the first of our plums this year! Last year was a bumper harvest. This year there is noticeably less fruit, but the plums are a very good size and tasty too😋😋

Family Birthday celebration from last autumn.
Three layer Victoria sponge with chocolate buttercream filling and 70% chocolate ganache poured over while still warm. Decorated with delicious strawberries and a cute "chandelier" candle holder!

This is an add-on to the previous post. I baked some individual queen cakes/small cup cakes with the left over Victoria sponge mix from Cristina's cakes and decorates with mini chocolate covered and "princess"biscuits, sweeties, mini meringues and other goodies.
I used a pour-on consistency dark chocolate and white chocolate ganache. This way it gives a nice smooth, shiny finish.
They disappeared very quickly....just like the birthday cake!

It's been a while now, too much going on with family concerns, but I wanted to post the cake made for grand daughter Cristina 's 14th Birthday. Had great fun making it! Made from a basic Victoria sponge mix, baked in a ring tin and cut out a section to make the "C". Filled with chocolate whipped ganache, and covered with white chocolate ganache and kinder chocolate eggs sliced open and filled with mini m&ms, plus sweets from local supermarket.

The last couple of months have been quite complicated for different personal matters. As a result, I completely forgot to post two birthday celebrations!
The first of which I'll remedy right now.
We're now into November and it's great to look back on warmer, sunnier days by the pool.

At the end of August we celebrated my birthday, with all the grandchildren here!
Some were staying for a few days.So we had a lovely, lively, outside birthday tea party and made the most of the glorious sunshine!

We had some tasty savoury club sandwiches and crudités with hummus , ordered from " Chef Clive" in Tarragona, and a delicious carrot cake.
I also did a melon boat with fresh fruit.

You can see the tasty spread in the photos.
For the children I baked cupcakes which I made into a pull apart cake to represent a bunch of flowers .

I used a basic Victoria sponge, made up as fairy cakes and butter icing to decorate in various flavours and colours, basically chocolate, vanilla, mint and lemon flavours and pink, lilac, white, green and chocolate colouring.
Topping was with sprinkles, sugar shapes, grated chocolate , plus candles and "Happy Birthday"sign.
It was fun making it and everyone could help themselves...no knives needed.😉😉😋

The grandchildren so enjoyed these Soft and Chewy Sugar cookies made for this weekend. The recipe comes from bakeamoment.com. They are totally delicious, soft and buttery. I used dark and white chocolate ganache for topping and couldn't resist these plastic creepy crawly insects, bats and even a skeleton to finish them!
These shared the table with our typical Catalan "panellets", which we eat for All Saints here in Catalunya. We had mix of homemade, thanks to Alex and his Youth club, and some from our local bakery.

Friday 6th August was our 3rd and final collaboration with English Summer S.A 3rd "Chef Camp" 2021, in .
We loved seeing the different decorations and toppings produced, and also the creative use of edible colourings with buttercream and glacé icing!
Dark and white ganache was also used to decorate after the different techniques were explained and the children were able to try them out first hand. They also had fun experimenting with filling and using piping bags with buttercream.
