THIS IS HOW IT ALL STARTED. 🥹

The first loaf of bread we ever baked. The first croissant tests.
Everything began with a passion for baking and the idea of creating something truly special, delicious, high-quality, and made with complete transparency.

Everyone should know exactly what they’re eating.
It wasn’t easy. More than once we changed our recipes, tested different flours, and checked how temperature and humidity affected the way the dough fermented and rose. 🤒

Beginnings are always challenging, especially when it comes to a process as complex as baking, and even more so on a larger scale.

As we celebrate La Barra’s birthday, we wanted to share a little more of our story with you and show you what was happening long before we arrived in sunny Andalusia. 🤎

YOU’VE NEVER HAD A BETTER CHEESECAKE! 🤎

We’re absolutely convinced of it, because we’re not talking about just any cheesecake, but about the BASQUE CHEESECAKE, which holds the number one spot in our hearts.

What makes this supposedly “special” cheesecake so unique?

Well, Basque cheesecake is made with philadelphia cream cheese, not the classic curd cheese usually used in traditional cheesecakes. Thanks to that, the texture becomes incredibly creamy, melt-in-your-mouth, and slightly soft in the center.

You might ask: is that all? Not quite.
Besides cream cheese, the cake contains only a very small amount of flour (which makes it a great option for people who tend to avoid gluten) and we also add a touch of salt, which gently balances the sweetness.

It might sound a bit controversial, but we guarantee: one bite and you’re hooked.

OUR OLIVE OIL! 🫒

The perfect companion to sourdough bread, for frying, salads, dressings, even ice cream. What’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Of course, OLIVE OIL and at La Barra, we’ve just created our very own! 🤤

Produced especially for us by our friends in Ronda, using selected Hojiblanca olives and cold-pressed according to traditional methods.

It’s a product made with respect for tradition and natural quality, just like everything we do in our bakery.

When you stop by for bread, make sure to take a bottle home with you.
