Sometimes the strongest thing you can do... is take a break.

Running El Cookie has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

It's also one of the hardest.

When you're the baker, barista, cleaner, event organizer, social media manager, and everything in between, it's easy to forget to take care of yourself.

So this August, El Cookie will be taking a little break.

I'll be using the month to focus on my physical and mental health, recharge my batteries, and come back with fresh ideas, new energy, and even more exciting things for our community.

Thank you for supporting not just a small business, but the person behind it.

I'll miss seeing you all, but I can't wait to welcome you back in September.

Llevar El Cookie ha sido una de las experiencias más bonitas de mi vida.

Y también una de las más exigentes.

Cuando eres la persona que hornea, prepara cafés, limpia, organiza eventos, lleva las redes sociales y hace un poco de todo, es fácil olvidarse de cuidarse a uno mismo.

Por eso, este agosto El Cookie hará una pequeña pausa.

Voy a dedicar este mes a cuidar de mi salud física y mental, recargar energías y volver con nuevas ideas, ilusión renovada y muchas ganas de seguir creando comunidad.

Gracias por apoyar no solo a un pequeño negocio, sino también a la persona que está detrás de él.

Os voy a echar mucho de menos, pero tengo muchísimas ganas de volver a veros en septiembre.

Running a small business by yourself is... a little bit of everything.

Some days you're exhausted. Your feet hurt. You've been baking, cleaning, answering messages, washing dishes, restocking, and wondering if coffee can be considered a personality trait. ☕😂

Then...

A customer walks through the door.

And somehow, you find that extra bit of energy.

Because every person who walks in deserves to feel like they're the best part of your day.

The truth is... sometimes they actually are. ❤️

People often ask me why I opened El Cookie.

Sure, I love baking.
I love experimenting with new recipes.
And I love seeing someone take that first bite of a warm cookie.

But cookies were never the whole reason.

I wanted to create a place where people could slow down.

A place where someone new to Alicante could make a friend.
Where two strangers could become regulars together.
Where conversations mattered more than screens.

That's what El Cookie has always been about.

And yes...
I know I'm awkward on camera. 😂

Trust me, I'd much rather be behind the counter baking cookies than talking to a camera.

But if stepping out of my comfort zone helps build this community, then it's worth every awkward moment.

Mucha gente me pregunta por qué abrí El Cookie.

Sí, me encanta hornear.
Me encanta crear nuevas recetas.
Y me encanta ver la cara de alguien cuando prueba una cookie recién hecha.

Pero las cookies nunca fueron el único motivo.

Quería crear un lugar donde la gente pudiera bajar el ritmo.

Un lugar donde alguien que acaba de llegar a Alicante pudiera hacer un amigo.
Donde dos desconocidos terminaran siendo clientes habituales juntos.
Donde las conversaciones fueran más importantes que las pantallas.

Eso es lo que siempre ha significado El Cookie para mí.

Y sí...
Ya sé que soy bastante torpe delante de la cámara. 😂

Little-known fact about me...

I LOVE rock and metal music. 🎸

So every now and then, a great song comes on, I'm in the kitchen or behind the counter, and suddenly I'm giving a full concert to an audience of... absolutely no one. 😎

Until...

I turn around.

And there's a customer standing there watching the whole performance. 😳😂

Nothing snaps you back to reality faster than making eye contact mid-air guitar.

I guess the music and the vibes at El Cookie are just that good.

Don't worry—I haven't disappeared. 😌

I'll be taking a little time to: ☕ Rest 📝 Plan new events 💡 Dream up new ways to bring people together over coffee and cookies.

Sometimes even cookies need a recharge.
But we'll be back soon with plenty of exciting things happening:
