Did you know that cookies were just failed cake dough?
Cookies are obvious crowd pleasers. They are loved all over the world especially the famous chocolate chip cookie 😍

This all started in 7th century AD in Persia where sugar had recently become popular so they invented many sweet treats and our beloved cookie was one of them. They were then spread to Europe by the Islamic expeditions.

Flash forward to 16th century Dutch land, cake bakers used to test the oven temperature using a small amount of cake dough. Guess what that dough turned into?
Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, sounds fimiliar? They started calling this newly invented sweet treats "koekjes" pronounced "cookies" which literally means "little cake".
