PAINTED BY JOTUN: Hotel Scandic Seilet in Molde, Norway.

Like a mainsail on a giant ship, Hotel Scandic Seilet (“The Sail”) in Molde, sits on the water's edge of Romsdalsfjorden. The view towards the Romsdal Alps and the rest of the Molde panorama's mountain range is spectacular. Just like the weather in this part of Norway.

With the enormous stresses from weather, wind and seasonal variations, the hotel still appears as shiny and beautiful as when it was completed in 2002. After 18 years of whipping sea wind, rain, snow and sun, there is no hint of wear.

The facade consists of glass and powder-coated aluminum profiles. Powder-coated surfaces are very resistant to scratches, gusts and varying climatic conditions – and are also an environmentally friendly alternative as powder coatings are completely solvent-free.
