A €1 million project will completely transform Lagia, one of the smallest municipal districts of the Municipality of Lefkara , which has just 37 permanent residents. The Municipality's goal is for Lagia to become a model for the development of mountainous Larnaca, which will be achieved, as Mayor Sofoklis Sofokleous told "Φ", through landscaping throughout the community.

This is a mature project, which holds a town planning permit and an infrastructure permit and is expected to receive funding from European Union funds . "We submitted a comprehensive plan with the deputy mayor to the Ministry of Interior and specifically to the European Programs Department. In meetings we had a few days ago, the project was presented and there was satisfaction from the competent officers and the evaluation will be completed by the summer ," noted Mr. Sophocleous, indicating that the project is expected to be approved.

"Lagia is a small community that has all the characteristics to become a model of development in the Larnaca mountains. The project involves landscaping the entire core, creating green spaces, upgrading small open spaces and placing, in general, all the elements that will connect the past with the future ," he added. Modern urban equipment will be installed as part of the project, as well as modern lighting. "For me, there are no small and large apartments. Everything will be treated in a uniform way in order to develop," said Mr. Sophocleous.

Meanwhile, projects are also planned in the remaining six municipal districts, such as the creation of a new road at the entrance to Lefkara , which will cost approximately €500,000, as well as renovations of landmarks in Kato Lefkara and Skarinou.

We are delighted to be once again supporting Troodos Network at the upcoming Ancient Olive Tree Festival at Paramali this coming Sunday 20th October. We will be doing olive beads and decoupage activity workshops at the festival.
We are surrounded by beautiful olive trees in Layia village and they play a huge part in our craft and artwork.
