An historic achievement already, our Canadian national squad has advanced to the final 16 of the World Cup for the first time ever! So in honour of that, we are rolling out the red carpet for this tremendous occasion!

SMUDGES
We’ve been testing a couple ways to achieve a particular chromatic effect for a new rug by of .architects .

Our starting point was to create a smooth gradient from fuchsia to deep purple, representing the facade of one of their favorite projects (can guess which one??).
Achieving a smooth gradient or ‘ombré’ effect is already a challenge, requiring numerous shades of dyed wools and lots of blending to do well. Yet atop this, John was keen to add smudges of bright colours, representing diffuse reflections in the glossy surface of the facade.

Still a work in progress, but this is the best artist’s proof so far. Let us know what you think in the comments 👇 or DM us!

Anyone else getting excited for ?? As we await the season start next weekend, we’re showcasing this 1m2 rug of one of my favorite cities - downtown Toronto, featuring the infamous !

Our handmade custom rugs often adorn walls as well as floors. This Toronto 1x1 rug is one example of the smaller ‘neighborhood’ rugs we’ve been producing for our custom clients. I remember when I met John Monteith and saw his artwork for the first time… I loved his colourful, layered compositions and knew in that moment, we needed to do a rug collection with him. The only problem was - how to narrow down which pieces to adapt into rugs?! So many possibilities.
