Well my dear customers….Its the end of an era. 30 years of serving thousands of Manitobans the delicious taste of Mighty Micki’s Mini Donuts at a variety of summer festivals and fairs. These last few years have proven very challenging as the king of mini donuts himself, Mick has been battling autoimmune encephalitis. Always partnered together, I oversaw staffing, finances, event booking, customer relations and organization, while Mick was brilliant in trailer and cart construction, towing, machine repair and event management. Since 2019 with Mick unable to work, and with the assistance of my mini donut angels, I tried to oversee all operations. After 3 years, I knew it was time to make significant changes. This spring we sold all our units to wonderful owners who I am sure you will see around. This will be our first summer off in 30 years and we look forward to visiting all the wonderful festivals and events as a guest.
From a table top mini donut fryer on Corydon street festival in 1992, Mighty Micki’s Mini Donuts quickly grew to include three mobile units, our highly popular kiosks and innovative 20 ft. sea can conversion at IG Field where customers would wait on average 45 mins to get Mighty Micki's mini donuts.
We’ve attended well recognized events and festivals throughout Manitoba… including the Gimli Icelandic Festival, Morden Corn and Apple, Children’s Festival, to name a few. Our hot and fresh mini donuts were included at the old Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg Stadium, Winter Wonderland, and many corporate and school events and weddings.
We’ve enjoyed all our staff coming in as early as 14 years old and leaving in early 20’s. Our children grew up at festivals and enjoyed every hotel with pool in all towns. The memories are incredible, and our summer stories are repeatedly and affectionately talked about.
So, with a tear in my eye, I say THANK YOU to all our mini donut lovers, our staff, Wonder Shows, IG Field, and festival organizers for a fantastic memorable 30 years. We have absolutely enjoyed this business. CHEERS!
