Good morning, everyone! ☀️

Just a friendly reminder that our meet-up is happening this Sunday, May 31st at 1:00 PM at Junction Orchard & Cidery (273 Prospect Lake Rd).

A couple quick housekeeping reminders:
• Please bring p**p bags
• All pups must remain on leash

I also spoke with Meg, the Events Coordinator, and it sounds like there will be a temporary fenced area set up from a previous dog event that we may be able to use! It’s essentially a pop-up fully fenced dog park, so we’re welcome to let the dogs run around if we’d like. The only rule is no food or alcohol inside the fenced area.

As an added bonus, the cidery is offering everyone a ticket when you purchase something and mention you’re part of the meet-up. We’ll do a prize draw later during the event for a tasting room prize! 🍎🐾

Hi everyone,

The meetups for May, June, and July are now posted under the 'Events' section. As a reminder, our meetups take place on the last Sunday of every month at 1:00 PM. Locations will vary, and I will continue to post those details 1–3 months in advance.

I will also share other local dachshund-related events as they arise. For instance, the Victoria Pet Expo is hosting its annual dachshund dash this weekend. Additionally, I expect Pet-A-Palooza will host their wiener dog races again this August.

⚠️ **Important Safety Reminder for Dog Owners** ⚠️

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a serious concern to help keep our pups safe.

There have been increasing reports of discarded substances, including opioids, in public areas. Even a tiny amount can be extremely dangerous—or even fatal—if a dog ingests it. Dogs are naturally curious and often sniff or pick things up on walks before we even notice.

Please be especially cautious when walking in areas like Veteran Memorial Park and other high-traffic or urban spots. Keep a close eye on what your dog is sniffing or eating, and consider keeping them on a shorter leash in these areas.

🚨 **Signs of possible poisoning in dogs include:**

* Sudden lethargy or weakness
* Trouble walking or standing
* Vomiting
* Constricted (very small) pupils
* Slow or difficulty breathing

If you suspect your dog has ingested something harmful, seek veterinary care immediately—don’t wait.

It’s heartbreaking to think about, but awareness can make all the difference. Let’s look out for each other and our dogs 💛
