My name is Magdalena, I’ve been in the food industry for over 10 years. Since I was young, I have always had a passion for baking. It has been a huge part of my family and it all started with my mom and oma. In my early teens I got my career jumpstart by baking at local markets and artisan festivals in Tofino, where I was born and raised. In my late teens I got my first, real baking job and started working at the renowned SOBO restaurant with Pastry Chef Jennifer Clarkson, as assistant baker. After nearly two years, I enrolled in the Professional Baking and Pastry Arts Program at Vancouver Island University. After graduating, I returned to my hometown of Tofino and went on to work at the prestigious Point Restaurant at the Wickaninnish Inn, Relais & Châteaux, refining my baking and decorating skills and getting my first taste of molecular gastronomy (food science) with Pastry Chef Matt Wilson. I’ve been baking ever since! Classic Cake Co. is a home based cakery located in Langford. I create delicious and elegantly designed cakes and baked treats in small batches to focus on quality and detail—Specializing, mainly in custom Swiss meringue buttercream cakes and cupcakes, among other tasty treats! I am FoodSafe Level 1 certified, and am able to cater to some dietary needs and intolerances (dairy, gluten, vegan and nuts). Everything is hand made from scratch, with high quality ingredients. I design and make high end, edible art at a competitive price. Everything is meticulously made with love and care for others to enjoy for their special occasions!
