The very first thing I ever canned by myself was Nana Shelley’s salsa recipe.
Since then every canning season she has shared numerous recipes (including this season), helped me step by step - even late at night helping fix my mess ups, answering my panicked texts 🩷

So the salsa at the farmstand will be loving called ‘Nana’s Salsa’

And just like that 20 pounds of tomatoes turned into salsa

…. It was actually a 9 hour process…. Chopping all those ‘maters along with the veggies takes forever 😅

20 pounds made me 22 half pints and 23 pints 🤩

You’ll see this salsa on the shelves of the farmstand!

Today was a day of canning…. Well if I’m being honest the last three weeks have all been days of canning 😅

Today on the docket was dill pickle carrots and pickled onions.

Dilled carrots… IYKYK 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 but pickled onions are a new one for me and I’m excited to try them on our burgers, tacos and salads!

…. These two items will be a staple of The Prairie Cupboard in the fall time!!

You may be wondering why the profile name still says Cakes & Bake by Ray. Well here’s a fun little story, my name change was denied by Facebook because it doesn’t meet their guidelines … so I spent 4 HOURS lastnight escalating the change for review and still no luck. I was told to try again in 72 hours.

So I apologize for the conflicting information at this point, please bear with me in trying to deal with Facebook to get it changed.
Hopefully in 72 hours I will have better luck!

The soon to be home of The Prairie Cupboard!
The ‘renovations’ on the old auction topper have begun! Within this next week this old topper will go from old and forgotten to beautiful and full of purpose. I had so much fun picking out the colors and can’t wait for you to see which ones I ended up picking.

Gloomy long weekend weather meant a break from seeding and opportunity to try out some new flavors.

Oreo cinnamon rolls and peach cobbler cinnamon rolls …. They did not disappoint!

…. Also my first time using AI take my photos look more professional 👀… not entirely sure how I feel about it
