What do you think? πŸ€” Did I capture the essence of Millentials and Gen Z?

Our newest bun of the month just launched and it's a new flavour I've never made before! 🫢 Please try it!

" Tuna " and soy floss.

The tuna is from and made of jackfruit and the soy foods is from !

It's taken a bit of time to launch this flavour, but here are 5 things I consider before launching a new flavour bun.

1 - Cost of ingredients: obviously. The cost of the ingredients we put on top varies in price. This vegan tuna is not the most economical but it sure is delicious!

2 - Season: it can depend on the season, spring is just emerging in March so I thought that would be a good fresh flavour.

3 - Difficulty: something too complex would take too long to make and there are higher chances of errors

4 - Taste: it's gotta taste yummy. Brainstorming new flavour combinations is not easy, and I'll think about it for weeks on how to execute it so that it tastes good.

5 - Timing: Sometimes we extend the bun of the month an extra few weeks because we still have stock of one ingredient and I don't want to waste it!

A bit behind the scenes and some of my thoughts 😬.
I haven't worked this much in a long time due to our circumstances here, but it is what it is for now. This vegan boss baker hard at work 🫑.
Thanks for supporting my small business 🫢.

The truth is revealed! Most of you got it right πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. Thanks for being a loyal fan 🫢!

Watch me assemble a 3 tier cake for Vandusen's 50th anniversary last year. I have delivered many wedding cakes to Vandusen over the years. So it was an honor to be asked to do this for what I think is such a prestigious venue!

I will not be making any multi tiered cakes at this time until further notice in 2026. Thank you for respecting this ☺️. I will reveal why in a future post shortly soon!

This is the second most frequent question I get aside from "can I order a cake?".

People will tell me they will debate with their friends about this one thing about us!
"Is it Level V or Level 5?"

Let me know what you think in the comments!
And I'll tell you next time!!!!

The 2016 trend has been popular lately. But I am bringing it back to circa 2014, where it all began!

1) 2014 is when I bought my 1st Kitchenaid mixer! It is still kicking to this day, and use it on the daily! Talk about well worth investment.

2) I learned what veganism was at Veg Fest, and became vegan in 2015.

3) Level V Bakery used to be called Veggie Berry! And I started experimenting by veganizing recipes and did my 1st market for funsies.

4) Fun fact: I was on a health train, and became a personal trainer for 1 year. Working 60 hour weeks became too brutal for me and I ended up leaving that profession.

5) I had more time for baking, so then I continued to experiment and trying out more complex recipes.

6) My friend asked me to bake her birthday cake for her. Then she shared it on the Vancouver Vegan FB group, then people started asking me about cakes!

7) Advertisement was word of mouth, and I started taking orders for cakes and doing this after my 9-5 job and on weekends. I even did wedding cakes and hosted events.

8) I decided to leave my cushy 9-5 job and make Level V Bakery my full time job. Tommy was always helping me out. And I opened our brick and mortar store in 2020.

I've been making wedding cakes for over 5 years now. And what I have come to realize is that I am still nervous every single time! After weeks or months of the bride and groom planning their special day, the wedding cake can really bring this occasion together as the center piece and create lasting memories or collapse ruining the moment and cause huge disappointment.

I used to be the most nervous wreck because of the high stakes and pressure. But after years of practice, I am finally starting to get more comfortable with the process.

This not only includes baking and icing the cake, but also transporting and assembling the cake to the venue. The summer months is still quite challenging since vegan cakes tend to be softer.
