Taking a moment to be “Grounded in My Roots” 🇵🇭
I spent the summer visiting home and relishing quality moments with my family. While there, I realized I didn’t have a cookie flavour that reflected a big part of who I am—my Filipino identity. Ube is a dessert flavour that has become more popular, but I wanted to add to that flavour profile. In Filipino cuisine, we love adding cheese to lots of desserts. Whether on top of cassava cake or ensaymada, cheese adds a creaminess and saltiness that completes the experience.
Grounded in My Roots was the product of all these reflections. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s an ube cookie with a pandan cheesecake filling, and topped with cheddar cheese. Pandan is a plant that is used in many Southeast Asian cuisines. We use its fragrant leaves to extract this “grassy vanilla” flavour. It’s hard to explain, but once you know the smell, it just sticks with you 🥰
This is one of my favourite flavours we’ve ever created. If you’ve tried it already, we’d love to hear how the experience was for you! It might not be for everyone, but this one reminds me so much of home 💕
