Form 03: Memory Reconstructed Through Guava Adhesion

In this latest edible intervention, Irreverent Bakery confronts the false nostalgia of North American comfort food with a subversive square — a geometry historically associated with bureaucracy, submission, and toaster pastries.

The base medium is a crunchy peanut butter dough, riddled with the unapologetic presence of whole peanuts — a deliberate refusal to accommodate texture-averse palates. The center features a sliced deposit of guava jam (Rollo de Guayaba), not as a garnish but as archival proof of cultural cross-contamination. Sticky, glossy, and partially ossified, the jam resists both fusion and erasure — it stains, it holds, it remembers.

Each cookie is deliberately square, recalling census forms and visa applications — documents that demand your identity in 3x3 inches. The sugar crust reads as a preservation act, or perhaps just the final crystallization of your patience.

Best consumed with mild resentment and a sharp black coffee.

Thermomix Almond Butter Cookies
(Makes approximately 18 cookies)

Ingredients

1 large egg
1 cup (250g) almond butter or peanut butter, at room temperature or cold (not warm)*
1/2 cup (90g) light or dark brown sugar, lightly packed*
1 teaspoon baking soda
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup (190g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, peanuts, peanut butter chips, etc.

Instructions

Preheat oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Prepare the dough:

Place the egg in the Thermomix bowl. Beat for 10 seconds/speed 4.
Add almond butter, brown sugar, baking soda, and vanilla extract (if using). Mix for 20 seconds/speed 4. Scrape down the sides with a spatula.
Add the chocolate chips (or other mix-ins) and combine for 10 seconds/reverse/speed 2.
Shape the cookies:

Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons of dough for each cookie and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Gently press down on each dough ball with the back of a spoon.
Bake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. For crispier cookies, bake for up to 12 minutes. The cookies may look soft but will firm up as they cool.
Cool and store:

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Store tightly covered at room temperature for up to 7 days.
