You are all SO awesome. I want to let you know how much I appreciate your support for our fundraiser. There was so much enthusiasm I ended up making almost 3x as much as I originally set out to do! Several of you actually gave extra money to pass along to the cause. I want you to know how much that is seen and appreciated.

I cannot wait to show you all how much money we raised for Black Women in Motion. Stay tuned for the reveal tomorrow!! In the meantime let’s keep it up! We must continue the work of educating ourselves and each other about white privilege and systemic racism, continue listening to and amplifying Black voices in our community, and wherever we can let’s open our purses and wallets for the causes that seek to protect and honour Black lives.

Okay wow! I am so overwhelmed by all the support for our bake sale! At this point, I have to announce croissants, brownies, lemon squares and lemon tarts and Babkas are sold out! If you’d like to continue ordering any scones, bagel bombs or cinnamon buns, we’ll be taking orders for those for the rest of the day! Thank you again for the enthusiasm about this fundraiser. I absolutely cannot wait to see how much money you’ve helped raise for Black Women in Motion this weekend!

Hi Friends!

We could all use a treat right now. That’s why Wheat & Poppy is excited to announce that we will be joining bakers around the world in taking part in the Virtual Bake Sale this week, with 100% of the profits going to Black Women in Motion, a Toronto-based, youth-led organization that empowers and supports the advancement of black women and survivors of sexual violence.

On Monday, June 15th we’ll be announcing our lineup of pastries, breads and other baked goods that will be available to order. At that point, you can send us a message with your order and we’ll coordinate contactless delivery for Saturday June 20th in Trenton or Belleville. If you’re unsure if you’re in the delivery area, send us a message and we’ll figure it out!

Wheat & Poppy is currently on hiatus due to Covid-19, but I felt it was important to come out of hibernation to say clearly:

Black Lives Matter.

As a white business owner in an overwhelmingly white community, it’s important to state it clearly. Silence is violence, and we can’t have any more of it just because we’re afraid to be political or risk losing followers. Frankly, the silence is concerning. It’s no longer enough to just not be racist ourselves; we need to be actively anti-racist. We need to take this time to listen to and amplify black voices, to unlearn our own unconscious biases, and to dismantle white supremacy everywhere we see it. This means having uncomfortable conversations with other white people. It means looking past our own privilege to believe black peoples’ lived experiences. It means acting locally to make our community safer for people of colour. It means making your stance on this important humanitarian issue known publicly. Please take advantage of this opportunity with me to self-reflect and learn how we can do better for the black community. And if you’re able to right now, please donate to any of these causes:

🌹♥️Hello Friends! Just popping out of hibernation with exciting news about our Valentine’s Day specials! This year we are offering pastry boxes filled with delicious goodies to sweeten the day. One box includes a chocolate croissant, a strawberry chocolate scone, a raspberry jam jam cookie, a chocolate tart, and two Macarons! Boxes are $20 for pickup in Belleville on Friday February 14th, or $25 for delivery on the evening of Thursday the 13th (Belleville and Trenton only). We will also have a limited amount of macaron boxes! They are $16 per box and contain 8 macarons - 4 red velvet and 4 raspberry rose.
