The story begins with the owner Josée who has more than 20 years of experience has a seasoned business manager for American Companies while cultivating for 10 years her passion for making bread and learning the art with French Bakers in Montreal. While learning, she stumbled upon this fantastic French Baker and his wife with whom a strong connection developed over time. After many months of discus

sions, it was agreed that Josée would continue their business and to move it to Toronto. While learning the baking trade Josée developed a gluten allergy and struggled to find quality and tasteful bakery and pastry products, a motivation to work at improving her offering, hence the change made to become an entirely Gluten Free & Nut Free Bakery and Grocery. August 2019 is when The Bread Essentials had to make the decision to cease the regular bakery and became entirely Gluten Free. Shortly after; October 1 2019 is when The Bread Essentials obtained it Gluten Free Certification and therefore Celiac approved. Please come to see us for a friendly visit to see what our Bakery and Grocery sections holds that will make you feel like the sky is now the limit! We continuously work to better our offering and develop products that make us feel...we eat normally!

We're still plugging away and doing our best. Kudos to the girls for still coming in and doing what they can. 💝😘

This week's snack... sweet and spicy gochujang crunchers! 😃😘
*whispers* if the spicy part puts you off, fear not! Tis very low... a mild heat. Just a superb flavouring of gochujang.

We also have their dill pickle, sour cream and onion (a bag of which I have also opened and mixed the gochujang into... don't judge me!!), BBQ, and salt and vinegar.

Enjoy them all straight from the bag or add them to a charcuterie board, slice some cheese, dip 'em, crumble them into a salad or over a pasta or slice of pizza...

Well, friends, that's another work week done and dusted.
Home again... time for a treat.

One of our rather fabulous (if I do say so myself, I make most of them ☺️😉) chocolate croissants, smeared with some Turkish kaymak (clotted cream), sliced banana, and homemade peanut butter (the bakery is 100% nut free, but I'm not) and a wee drizz of maple syrup.

What a stunning holiday weekend it is shaping up to be! 🌞🥰
Are you travelling? You need road snacks and drinks - we have tons of snacks featuring a real crowd-pleaser Weekender (yup, they're back!) potato chips. You get 4 kinds of chips in one bag: salt and vinegar, sea salt and cracked pepper, smokin' sweet BBQ, sweet and spicy jalapeño.
For the drive up grab yourself some non-alcoholic bevvies like sparkling juices Orchard apple, Ontario pear (we also have their Sour Cherry, I just didn't have enough arms to carry it out with the rest), and then when you have arrived at your destination, crack open their Eve Goes Badass (cider steeped in cayenne pepper for a little heat), or their classic Forest Garden.

We also have other ciders, wine, beer... all gluten free!

As the wait for the streetcar on the second leg of my journey into the bakery was a bit long, I nipped down to the lake to greet the dawn. Absolutely gorgeous start to the day!

We have back in stock (and apparently we can't keep our little paws off 'em)
You can't go wrong with these classics! Super crunchy, just a wee smidge of salt, made in Ontario (yay Guelph!!) with Ontario 'taters.

And, I love a company that puts great effort into helping the environment : " For every bag sold, we remove twice it's weight in plastic from the environment, repurposing it into eco-bricks."

So, if we haven't eaten them all yet (challenge accepted), come get a couple bags for yourself!

We have our Allessia Tortellini with Porcini Mushrooms on sale for $5.99 (please note... it's ONLY the packages right by the front door with the red dots on them that are on sale) All you have to do is boil the water to cook them.
