Remember when it was winter and it made sense that it was snowing? 😑 Can’t say that I’m a fan of this snow in May business. But it did remind me to share these cookies I made way back in January for ’s birthday. (Ps. have you checked out yet? Her lettering is amazing. 😍)
The inspiration for these came from ’s dreamy snowflake cookies. I love how the watercolour + marble + geometric + silver leaf combination turned out. Happy (snowy) Monday! 💕

Well friends, a LOT has changed since I last posted. First and foremost, I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy. ❤️ I moved shortly before the lockdown started, so quarantine life for me has involved a lot of DIY projects. The new place is an apartment in an old house, so it has lots of quirks and character (obsessed with the bay window, not so much with the army of silverfish living in my bathroom). And for the first time ever, I’ve been baking with a gas oven, which has been a real game changer (even though I may or may not have waited until my mom came to visit before attempting to use it because I was afraid of burning down my house 😂). I haven’t been doing a ton of baking but I really wanted to send some vanilla bean Easter cookies to loved ones since we couldn’t celebrate in person. I hope everyone has been finding ways to stay connected with family and friends during these tough times. 💕

Happy 🐪 day! I have been MIA lately and will be for the next little while because I’m moving! Which is very bittersweet....

Happy 🐪 day! I have been MIA lately and will be for the next little while because I’m moving! Which is very bittersweet. I’ve had the pleasure of living with a sweet angel for four years (it’s the end of an era!), but due to circumstances beyond our control, we have to leave our beloved apartment. 😩 Am I the only one who thinks moving is the most stressful thing ever?? How does one accumulate 1000 cookie cutters, cake pans, rolling pins and fondant cutters over four years? I think I need a big jar of salted caramel to get me through the next week. 🙈

Did anyone tune into the Oscars on Sunday? I have to confess that I rarely watch the Academy Awards - I can never stay awake that late. 🙈 But I had so much fun making these cookies! Other than the star, I didn’t have any of the cookie cutters for these. I’m a big fan of repurposing cutters I already have (mainly because I don’t have room to store new cutters). I made the statues using key, bottle and rectangle cookie cutters! ⭐️

I ate more of these over the holidays than I’d care to admit. 🙈 French macarons two ways! One of the things I love about macarons is how versatile they are. For both of these recipes, I started with the same French macaron recipe (makes about 48 shells/24 macarons) and vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream.
Red velvet macarons with cream cheese buttercream = 1 tbsp cocoa added to the dry ingredients + 1 tsp red velvet emulsion (or red food colouring) added during macaronage + about 2 oz cream cheese beaten into the SMBC. Because what is red velvet without cream cheese buttercream? 🤤
Gingerbread macarons with boozy buttercream = 1 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tsp cloves added to dry ingredients + 1-2 oz of Bailey’s (or other liqueur) beaten into the SMBC.

What a year it’s been! Thank you for all the support and encouragement over the course of the year. ❤️ I didn’t accomplish as much as I wanted to in 2019, but I’m trying to focus on what I did get done and on all the exciting things ahead! Looking forward to many more baking adventures in 2020. 🥰 What are you most excited for in the new year?

It’s almost meringue pop season in my house, and I 👏 am 👏 excited. These are a combination of sweet white chocolate and tart raspberry, but the possibilities are endless! Lemon, mocha, rose, passion fruit... why choose just one? Bake all the meringues. Eat all the meringues. Be happy. 💕

Happy December! It’s been snowing (and/or raining/hailing) all day long, which means the only thing to do is eat as much caramel as possible. Enter cinnamon macarons with dreamy dulce de leche. No Sunday scaries as long as these are around. 💕
