Hey y’all! Sorry this took me so long, things have been happening over here. Jumping on to remind you that we are temporarily closed until further notice. As you remember, we had a bit of a flood due to a fire in the apartment upstairs. We are currently waiting on insurance to know how to proceed.

ALSO! Please give a warm welcome to our new (very hairy) baby Orion! He arrived on Tuesday April 21 at 8:40pm very fast!!! Kira is the most incredible human and Cosmo is the best big brother. We are all doing well.

Hello! BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! SO LISTEN CLOSELY.

I am doing things a little differently this time round. Noah and Lou will be leaving Lox + Schmear shortly (Noah is a smartie pants and just graduated with a Masters degree and is hoping to find a job in their field, and Lou has decided that moving back to Victoria to continue to be the coolest tattooer is what they need to do). Yay!!!!! for these two great humans who are awesome but need to move on from here. SOOOOO this means that I am hiring for two roles:

1. CASHIER position on SATURDAYS ONLY!
2. CASHIER AND BAGEL MAKER position- cashier on Friday and Sunday, and bagel maker on Saturdays.

As part of the and annual Dine With Eggs, we have our very special BREAKFAST KNISH!!!!!! You’ve asked for eggs, so here you go! Our version of the ideal breakfast sandwich, but in a knish bundle of joy. Pastry, STUFFED with scrambled chive-y eggs, potato and old cheddar cheese. Served with ketchup (obvi) and spicy mayo and a slice of full sour pickles. Come and get it. On this weekend and next, and maybe longer cause it’s that good.

Calling all smoked fish lovers, bagel eaters and customer service masters who want to join the Lox + Schmear party!

Looking for folks who have a desire to make and serve delicious food while providing great customer service.

Very little/no restaurant experience necessary, however, we are looking for folks who can multi task, stay calm under pressure and who want to genuinely be a part of a lovely community of humans. You must be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday (day time). This will be a part time position- approximately 18hrs/week.

Tasks include: taking orders and payment, stocking items, cleaning, talking about smoked fish, helping customers, chit chatting (being shy won’t work!). Please note that this position is physically demanding as you will need to be on your feet for the shift.

Compensation will be $18-20/hr based on experience plus gratuities and will be discussed at time of interview. You will also be fed each shift! Get ready to eat all the bagels!

Tomato season is in full swing over here. In the blink of an eye it will be gone and we will be depressed and sad and crying in the darkness of winter.
