Meet our amazing Judges! The Essex County Sourdough Championship wouldn’t be complete without an incredible panel to taste, judge, and help crown this year’s winners. We’re so excited to introduce the talented people behind the table!
Phil: Philippe Octavien or Phil as everyone knows him is the man behind the magic that is Black Magic Culinary Creations. A presence in the culinary scene in Windsor for the past 11 years. From Private Dinners, Night Markets, to Pop-Ups, Cooking Classes and Supper Clubs he is a Private Chef and Caterer extraordinaire.
Olivia: Olivia started baking at 10 and never really stopped. After formal training at St. Clair and pastry school in Niagara Falls, she fell in love with the challenge of sourdough, the precision of laminated doughs, and experimenting with creative flavors. Equal parts detail-obsessed and dessert enthusiast, she approaches judging with curiosity, care, and a keen eye for what makes a bake memorable.
Rayan: Rayan Mykal is the owner of Bacchus Ristorante in Windsor and has been in the restaurant industry for over 16 years, starting at just 14 years old. What started as a job turned into a full career built on long days, hands-on experience, and learning every side of the business from the ground up. He’s passionate about great food, but even more about consistency, ex*****on, and the full guest experience.
