If you have ever lived away from a grandparent, you know how hard it can be. My Grandmère Lavoie and I are exceptionally closed despite living in separate provinces all my life.

As a way to make me feel loved from afar she would airmail us her homemade chocolate chip cookies. These cookies carried all of her love and sweetness and we treasured them. I have fond memories of my little brother & I sneaking into the freezer in the garage to take a cookie my mom stored there to make them last.

My sweet grandma is now 98 years old so while her love for these cookies hasn't diminished, her ability to make them has. It has been my honour to carry on the family recipe.

I have been making these cookies for many years now (including the time when I made 90 cookies and flew with them to Winnipeg for my her 90th birthday!) and it is a wildly requested treat at all our gatherings with family and friends.

I am thrilled to share these chocolate chip cookies with you all and appreciate the opportunity to feel connected to my sweet grandma while doing it.
