Stepped back in the kitchen for a minute to create this pale pink and pearl Ferrero Rocher style cake for this little lady. This was new flavor experiment for me. Happy Birthday little one💗

I truly have a passion for gardening and teaching people to succeed or helping them take steps towards the gardens they have dreamed about. Whether it's a backyard space or helping them grow their farm and talk about inter-cropping, it fills my heart. Today, there was a moment of success in my own yard. This apple tree needed so much love. Grafting to fix a large wound, trimming to get her healthy enough to produce and strong enough to survive the hail storms and the wind. Today I took an apple off to eat while working and was so grateful. It was delicious. Gardening has taught me about patience and the value of sitting with myself in silence. Mother nature is such a great teacher, she shows us to pay attention to and notice the little things.

I love to support local farmers and local businesses. So when my oldest little asked if we could get corn we decided to go big. We shucked a lot of corn for the freezer. Half got bbq'ed and the other half cut off the cob. All of it was frozen because we love the taste of summer corn in December.

Well 3 summers later we are starting to have some success! This is a big moment, I have always wanted to grow what I put into jars. This year I will able to as my 3 little gooseberry bushes produced almost 20lbs of berries. I shared some with the neighbors and the rest will get frozen or made into jam.

And the trenching goes on.... part 2 of this project was to define the berry bushes along the fence even more. I like to use eco-friendly things that will help improve the soil and save money on the water bill. Once the second round of edging was in, I added a heavy layer of cardboard and then wet it heavily and added worm castings soil on top. This will break down over the next couple years and works great for w**d suppression. I added the straw for moisture retention and esthetics. Great part about this is when I need to freshen it up, it can all be raked into the garden and tilled in to keep building the soil.

So I have been spending a lot of time in the yard lately, I spent more than a couple of days trenching and putting in garden edging. Its not sexy, but it is the next step towards starting to landscape the yard and give a few bushes and the grass line a stopping point. All the projects I post, I try to make doable and affordable. This one ran just shy of $200 between a package of stakes, 2 rolls of twine and 150 ft of edging so far.

I was pretty lucky to get to do round 2 for this lucky little lady's bday party today. Vanilla cupcakes with vanilla bean frosting and a little more of that seventies vibe.

This is truly made from scratch made custom cake, one of my kiddos even 3d printed me some special cutters to make the cake accents. My favorite were the VW bugs💛 everything was hand painted for this one. Lightly 'tie dyed' pink 70'ish style cake with green accents (her favorite colors) Chocolate cake filled with Bernard Callebaut chocolate ganache and italian buttercream. Happy Birthday kiddo! Love this over the top Barbie cake for this four year old. Vanilla Bean funfetti with homemade Raspberry filling and Italian Buttercream. This was so much fun creating a glam cake. Grateful for the opportunity to bake for a new family. 👑
