I don't usually get political on social media, but let me say this full-blast: I support Hari Jacquot's campaign for Sidney Council. We NEED a voice like Hari's on Council. Let me explain.
We've all heard the joke about "newlyweds & nearly-deads" but let's break that down. Yes, Sidney is home to a large community of seniors, and our Mayor & Council do a great job representing their interests. But who is speaking for the "newlyweds"? Who represents Sidney’s young families? Our exceptional young female entrepreneurs? Who speaks for Sidney’s visible minorities? Hari will. Passionately and fearlessly.
A voice like Hari's will make our Council stronger. She will bring a new angle to discussions, she will challenge assumptions, identify blind spots, and fill some of the gaps in how we see and serve our community. She will help Council to make better, more informed decisions. And better decisions are good for everyone. The newlyweds and the nearly-deads.
