We are remembering two Cornwell Point Alumni that we have lost over the past few weeks. Geoff Bell passed away in late July, and Alex Dean past away this past week. Both were children of original settlers to Cornwell Point, having started cottaging here back in the 40's with their parents. They grew up on the point together and both were funny, accomplished men. We are thinking of their families as they mourn these losses.

We are sorry to see another long term resident of Cornwell Point has passed away this week. Nina Gouthro lived on the bend of Evergreen for the past 16 years. Nina was a kind woman and active in our Cornwell Point Community association until her last year here, despite rarely using the Park. She was a good neighbour, a Registered Nurse by profession and a welcome part of our community. We are saddened by her passing. She was 90 years old.

Cornwell Point has lost one of that last surviving early settlers on the Point. Pauline Orr passed away at age 90. She was the youngest sibling of the Allen family who settled on Cornwell Point in the early 50's. She and her husband Ralph built the cottage that was once on the property where Fred and Jill Clifford are now. Several of her family members are still cottage owners on the point, including Kathy Pitre who is her grand-niece.

Another summer season is over, we had a fantastic year, lots of fun in the water and in the park. Our annual potluck was a hit, along with a new tradition of a bake sale tied in with our annual auction. The Cornwell Point Community Association was happy to unveil a commemoration to the original owner of the parklands Alvin Mugridge who donated the land to our community association in 1949. We officially named the park after his family. See picture attached.

The Park is now open for the season. The swings are up and the rest of the sports equipment has been set up for use by our members. Big thanks to Kathy, Crew and Katelin for helping with the horse shoe pits. Glen and David (supervised by Jen) for putting up the swings, and to Gary and Myrna for cleaning leaves and setting up the soccer, volleyball and badminton. A true community effort this year.

Cornwell Point has lost another long time friend. Larry Rayworth, brother to Leah Connolly and Helen Cu***ng, passed away on Wednesday. Larry has been a visitor to our community over the last 70 years, and for the past 20 years has rented a cottage on the point each summer. Larry was an intelligent and very interesting man, a gentleman and family man. He will be missed dearly by his daughter Judy and son John in Ontario, and his extended Cu***ng family in New Brunswick.
