We are undergoing a little re-vamp! Besides the continual demand for baking, numerous requests come in for advice or support when it comes to anaphylactic allergies. Although the bakery side of our business will remain on hiatus while Kristine is focusing on her writing, we are going to launch a new component of our business focusing on providing families with education and support! We'll keep you updated as new initiatives are launched!

I've never posted a recipe before, but for my fellow peanut/tree nut allergic friends, you have got to try this! Made it last night--it's the closest thing to Reese's Peanut Butter Cups my kids will ever taste, and it was ridiculously easy AND didn't require baking. I substituted an equal amount of soy butter (Wowbutter) for the peanut butter. Amazing! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/peanut-butter-bars-i/

To all of our customers:
It is with mixed feelings that we announce that we are officially closing down No Nuts But Us for the time being.

It's been an incredible ride the past 15 months, one that saw us meet many new people and allowed us to connect with others who live with anaphylactic allergies. We've been thrilled to provide baking for you and your families. Many of you became regular customers, and that meant so much to us.

The business grew faster than we'd anticipated, and we realized that we'd need to take it to the next level to continue to meet the demand. As many of you know, I (Kristine), also work from home as a writer and editor. I recently had my first young adult novel Throwaway Girl accepted for publication with Dundurn Press in Toronto, with the option for a second book. In addition, I am wanting to take a Master's level program in Therapeutic Writing/Art Therapy to compliment the writing workshops I already offer. In short, I feel like my heart is telling me that I've been trying to do too much and that I need to restore some balance. I'd like to have more time available for my family, to be home with my children and to follow my writing dreams. After some soul searching, Ben and I have decided that this is the best course of action to take.

Ben and I had always wanted to try this business and we're so happy that we did. It's been a wonderful experience, and one that we'll never forget. If we decide to re-open, we'll spread the word.

A recent article has me riled up today. First of all, we're not talking about a 'food sensitivity' here. If contact could mean death, how hard is it to buy an alternative product? There are great tasting substitutes. And more than anything, no one wants to have an anaphylactic allergy! If you could do something so simple to keep a child safe, why would you question it?
