Ever wonder what makes sourdough bread so special?

This bubbly, active mixture is our sourdough starter, Kora!

Unlike traditional bread that uses commercial yeast, sourdough relies on a living culture of wild yeast and beneficial bacteria to naturally ferment and help our bread rise.

Every day, our starter is fed with fresh flour and water, allowing it to grow, bubble, and develop that signature sourdough flavour.

Those bubbles you see? That’s fermentation in action!

From this one container comes the beginning of every handcrafted sourdough loaf we bake at The Cozy Nook Café.

Just flour, water, time, and a whole lot of patience.

Good bread doesn’t happen in a hurry.
