For couples drawn to wedding cakes with sculptural movement, intricate detail and a little drama…

This piece was originally created for a repeat Toronto client celebrating several September birthdays. They already knew the size and flavour they wanted, then gave me room to take the design from there.

I built it around soft blue and ivory marbling, layers of translucent rice and wafer paper, intricate lace-like textures and touches of gold — with details that reveal themselves differently as you move around the cake.

And that same kind of interpretation is often where wedding design begins.

You don’t need to arrive with a finished cake design. A palette, a feeling, your venue, a detail from your dress or florals, or a collection of images you’re drawn to can be enough. From there, I can translate what you love into something original that belongs within the whole visual story of your day.

A Joker-inspired wedding celebration was not something I expected to walk into — and then I saw this room. 🖤

Deep greens, black, rich purples and gold. Oversized playing cards, mirrors, candlelight and dramatic florals. The entire concept was bold, theatrical and incredibly well executed without ever feeling like a novelty theme.

The cake needed to belong in that world without competing with it.

So we kept it entirely black and let the details do the work — contrasting spackled, ribbed and smooth textures, with clean gold ribbon wrapping the base of every tier. Bold, but deliberately restrained.

And then I saw it in the room.

Against the florals, the colour, the scale and the lighting, it all clicked. The cake didn’t just work with the space — it looked like it belonged there.

One of the most unexpected wedding concepts I’ve worked with, and easily one of the most memorable.

A beautiful return to where it all began. ✨

Years ago, Ellen celebrated her wedding at Casa Loma. For her 50th, she returned to the same beautiful place — this time for another milestone entirely.

She had originally come to me with one of my own Casa Loma cakes as inspiration, then gave me the freedom to create something that felt completely her own. I loved building this one around soft blush tones, hand-piped florals and delicate gold details.

Ellen herself was such a joy to create for — warm, gracious and genuinely lovely from beginning to end. It made this one feel even more special.

Happy 50th, Ellen. What a beautiful full-circle moment. 💕

Four tiers finished in soft texture and lace, with sugar roses in cornflower blue, peach, and ivory — composed to hold presence without overwhelming the space around them.

For celebrations that expect more than something simply beautiful.
