Meet Ivy 💛
Hi! I am Ivy, owner and educator of Little Vikings Dayhome. 🌟
For me, Little Vikings is more than a dayhome or a business. It comes from a very personal place in my heart—as an educator, as a newcomer to Canada, and most importantly, as a mom.
I have always loved being around children and watching them learn, discover, and grow into their own little personalities. That love inspired me to pursue Early Childhood Education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, where I graduated and earned my Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level 3 certification. I also hold First Aid & CPR and Food Safety certifications to help me provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for every child in my care.
But perhaps my most important experience is being a mom to our son, who will also be part of our Little Vikings family. 💙
Our Son is actually one of the biggest reasons I dreamed of opening Little Vikings Dayhome. I wanted to build a career doing something meaningful while still being present during these precious years of his childhood. And along the way, that dream grew into something bigger: creating the kind of place I once searched for as a parent myself.
When our family first arrived in Canada, we didn’t have family nearby to help us. Like many newcomer families, my husband and I were trying to build a new life from the ground up. We needed to work, I needed to study and work, and at the same time, we had to find someone we could trust to care for our son.
I remember how important that decision felt. You aren’t simply looking for someone to “watch” your child. You’re looking for a place where you can leave them each morning knowing they are safe, loved, understood, comforted, encouraged, and cared for.
I know what it feels like to be that parent.
That experience is at the heart of Little Vikings Dayhome.
I want our dayhome to be a place where children can learn through play, explore their curiosity, build friendships, develop confidence and, above all, feel at home. I want every child who walks through our door to know that they belong here and that there is an educator who genuinely cares about them.
And I want parents to be able to go to work, school, or wherever their day takes them with peace of mind knowing that their little one is being cared for with the same patience, kindness, attention, and love that I would want for my own child.
Starting Little Vikings is also our family’s way of giving back to the community that has become our home. We know there are families—newcomers and long-time Canadians alike—working hard to build a future for their children and searching for childcare they can truly feel comfortable with.
I hope Little Vikings can become that special place for your family.
I can’t wait to welcome your little ones, learn about the wonderful individuals they are, celebrate their milestones, and become a small but meaningful part of their childhood.
With love,
Ivy
