Hello Redwater!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kristina Dekorver, and I am honoured to be taking over Redwater IGA.
I’ve been in the grocery industry since 2006, and I was born and raised in Canmore, Alberta, where the local IGA was more than just a grocery store—it was a true part of the community. That experience shaped my understanding of the important role a hometown grocery store plays, and the responsibility that comes with it.
My husband Ryan, our two children, and I will soon be calling Redwater home. We are excited to become part of this community and build our future here.
While I am new to Redwater, my husband’s family has deep roots in the area. His grandfather, Reg Austin, served as Mayor of Gibbons in the 1980s, and the Austin family farmed land between Gibbons and Redwater for many years. It makes this opportunity especially meaningful for us.
Over the past week, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you, and I’ve already been struck by the pride, kindness, and strong sense of community that make Redwater so special.
My commitment is simple: great service, support for local initiatives, and being an active part of the community. I look forward to building relationships and ensuring Redwater IGA is a store you can be proud of.
Thank you for the warm welcome—we are truly excited to call Redwater home.
