“Do you have a store somewhere?”
“Where can we find you during the week?”
We get these questions almost every market weekend, and the answer is a little longer than we can usually manage answering while handing over sourdough and making change. 💛
A few things you might not know about Cottage Creek Bake Shop:
🌼 Our sourdough and a selection of treats are often available at Andtbaka Farm Store on the occasional Monday or Thursday. We’ll always post here when we’re delivering. And often there’s goodies from us in the freezer there too!
🌼 We love being small. It means we can bake what inspires us, follow the seasons, try new ideas, and say yes to customer requests. (Many party cakes have passed through our doors!)
🌼 We don't have plans for a brick-and-mortar storefront. The truth is, a shop comes with schedules, staffing, overhead, and a whole lot of time spent running a business instead of baking. We'd rather spend our days making good bread than managing a building.
🌼 Janet and Ken built the licensed commercial bake shop we use today. It's tucked away in the forest beside Cottage Creek, and it's a pretty magical place to spend a baking day or a super early morning.
🌼 Being small also means we can take a Tuesday off to pick berries, spend an afternoon testing a new recipe, take a last minute trip to the island, or make something just because it sounds delicious.
🌼 After all these years, the Powell River Farmers' Market off of McLeod is still our favourite part of the week. We get to see familiar faces, meet new ones, and be part of this incredible community year round.
We've been part of the original farmers market for 15 years, and honestly, there's nowhere we'd rather be.
Thank you for making this little forest bakery possible. ❤️ 🍞 🌲 🦅 🍄🟫
