Giddy-up jingle-horse pick up your feet. Jingle around the clock…” every year I tell myself to not overwork my jingle-horse in December but I think my jingle-horse might be missing a part of its brain that learns from past mistakes. Taupe is beige’s older, prettier, more photogenic sister. Prove me wrong. I make this shade by starting with a light pink and crushing the pink tones with a bit of green and the tiniest pinhead of black. Then I add yellow to warm it up until I’m happy with it. Happy birthday sweet little Hayden!

Lemons of the Amalfi coast — I was inspired by ’s beautiful painting (scroll through to see it). The lemons are yellow starbursts the cake is a lavender/pear cake with honey Swiss meringue and graham cracker crunch inside. The other is white chocolate ganache, rice paper, edible markers, and lustres dusts. Now, who wants to go???!

Thanks to a warmer October than normal, many local flower growers are seeing a bumper crop of my favourite flowers — dahlias and come on…. Do flowers come more majestic than these? Emily from shared her bounty with me and I wanted to create a cake canvas to showcase the blooms so I went with a terrazzo square with some gold busting through some cracks. The gold is sea salt and honey hokey pokey that’s been gold-leafed. White chocolate ganache with freeze-dried strawberry powder for punch (both colour and taste).

Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on — Space cake for a sweet 1 year old (not a smash cake ;). Homemade acrylic topper. Hollow chocolate spheres all .mill. The buttercream is chocolate base to get that deep colour without a ton of food colouring and then highlighted with lustre dusts.
