Hard Winter is a sourdough bread bakery. We make a variety of rustic, handcrafted breads and pastries, with emphasis on simplicity.

Our bakery is located at 133 Hunter Street East in Peterborough. Check out our website for more details. All of our food is lovingly made from scratch with natural and healthy raw ingredients. We bring it to you baked fresh each time.

Welcome March 🌱

More light, warm sun, rainy days- spring is around the corner.
We are looking forward to all it brings. A few things added to our March menu:
Marble tea cake
The return of Funfetti cookies, March break here we come!
Pain Suisse cross laminated croissants, filled with almond cream and chocolate (available Wednesday and Thursday).
St. Patrick’s day croissant special (available the 13th, 14th & 17th) pistachio cream stuffed croissant with white chocolate.
100% rye on select days, have you tried it yet?

Gather. Eat. Celebrate.

As the warm days wind down, the harvest comes in and the sky is that really bright blue that only fall can appreciate- we all take a bit of time this weekend to slow down and get together to eat with those we hold close.

I’m intentionally slowing down for a minute to mark an important date.

This weekend marks FIVE YEARS of the bakery being in East city. We officially opened in 2014, with just Graham and I and a little table at the market. A lot has changed since then but at the core many things remain true.

With each year that passes, I always think it feels fitting that we celebrate our anniversary in the season of gratitude, thankfulness and abundance.
We’re so grateful for your continued support and it is never lost on us that you choose to include us in your daily routines and special meals.
