Recognizing Zeth, an exceptional Applied Nuclear Science and Radiation Safety Student

Zeth has been selected as one of 100 post-secondary students across Canada to attend the Canadian Nuclear Association Conference and Trade Show through the CNA’s Student Program. His application, including a short essay on a key aspect of Canada’s nuclear industry, was chosen from submissions nationwide.

Thanks to a great collaboration between Algonquin College Pembroke Student Services and Algonquin College Community Employment Services, Zeth was provided with a professional suit for the conference—perfect for making a strong impression - since his own suits are all the way back home in the Yukon.

After choosing to study here in Pembroke, where students receive next level support, Zeth is now headed to Ottawa with travel and accommodations fully covered to experience Canada’s premier nuclear industry event!

This is an amazing opportunity to connect with future colleagues, learn from industry leaders, and showcase the talent our students bring to the national stage. We’re so proud to have Zeth representing the Pembroke Campus.

12 TIPS FOR HOLIDAY FIRE & CO SAFETY

🔌 Holiday safety starts with proper use of EXTENSION CORDS.
Holiday decorations often come with extra plugs - which can mean extra danger.
That's why communities across Ontario are promoting safe power practices.
KEY POINTS:
• Extension cords should only be used as a temporary connection.
• Look for approved extension cords with certification marks like CSA, ULC, or ETL and rated for indoor or outdoor use.
• Extension cords should not be linked together - instead, use an extension cord that is long enough to do the job.
• If permanent wiring is required, have additional outlets installed by a licensed electrician.
• Don't overload a circuit, and never run cords under rugs or across doorways where they can be damaged or cause tripping.
• Inspect cords for damage before use, and discard if frayed or cracked.
• Unplug decorations when you leave.
