These little treats were on pause during the winter, but they're back starting this weekend! We make our meringues (GF, DF) with the egg whites we collect over the week from separating egg yolks for our doughs and egg wash. ‼️New season, new treat!

A while back, we saw that our friends had some black currant powder for sale. We scooped up a pack for experimenting, and it ended up here in these Black Currant Shortbread Cookies! They have an initial fruity tartness that slowly develops into a lingering black currant aroma as you chew.

Our tea shortbreads were well-received during the holiday season, and so we've decided to give shortbread a regular spot on our menu. We are trying to offer more allergen-conscious options to our lineup, so this one is for our eggless friends!

A little while ago, we were gifted some tea powders brought back by friends from their most recent trip to Japan. Today we're sharing them with you in our mochi cupcakes!

Our first flavour is made with houjicha, or roasted green tea. It has a rich and almost savoury flavour similar to matcha, but with an additional layer of nutty depth that pairs well with the juicy flavour of strawberry. The second is made with wakoucha, or Japanese black tea. It's not as well known as Japan's many green teas, and this one has a lighter and less astringent flavour compared to other better known black teas from different regions. The honey yuzu topping matches the sweet and almost floral notes of the tea, while also offering a variation on the classic pairing of black tea with lemon.

As always, they're gluten and dairy free, and available at today 10am-3pm!

Recently we returned from a trip to Vancouver, where spring has already been springing for the past month or so, to spend time with family and friends. We can't wait until Ottawa spring catches up and summer market season begins, but we still have one more winter market at Lansdowne to go!

We may have told some of you that we were thinking of switching up our April date to accommodate some potential scheduling conflicts with Calvin's last bonspiel of the season, but after receiving his schedule a few days ago we decided to revert back to our original 3rd Sunday of the month. This gives us a little more time to catch up and get back into the groove after 2 weeks away.

Today's mochi cupcakes are inspired by two chewy rice desserts that we enjoy during the New Year season. The first is a coconut and brown sugar nian gao that we like to eat after our New Year dinner, and the second is a classic black sesame tang yuan that we enjoy on Lantern Festival during the full moon!
