A Cake For Nana

Hello A Cake for Nana devotees....sorry we've been away for so long, but we've gotten the move under our belts and are happy to call Oshawa our new home.

We know it isn't Halloween yet, but we have started planning for the annual fruit cake baking frenzy that will be happening over the next few weeks.

We will be offering our signature dark fruit cake for sale again this year. As with other years, the cakes can be traditional (with raisins, currants, glace cherries, citrus peel and almonds) or a non-traditional version with dried cranberries, dried cherries (in place of glace cherries and citrus peel). We can make a nut-free version if requested. The cakes will be baked in 4" round tins this year and will weigh approximately one pound. The cakes can be soaked in good quality rum, or a no alcohol version that will have a simple sugar syrup on it. The cost per cake will be $25. Pick up is at our new location in Oshawa.

This year, we are asking for donations to the Windsor Overdose Prevention Society https://www.facebook.com/pg/WindsorOverdosePrevention/about/?ref=page_internal.

The Windsor OPS has been running with little to no funding since August 2018. It is staffed by dedicated volunteers. They do not receive any government funding. They've recently launched a gofundme campaign to try and raise funds to pay for a space they have secured. With your help and a little sweetness thrown in by A Cake for Nana, we can help them reach that goal.

Hey folks, am sharing this again in case you missed it! I am looking for sponsors for 40 more kits for my Valentine Day treat project for the Moss Park Overdose Prevention Site....the kits are $15 and will include a hand-decorated sugar cookie and either a $10 Tim's gift card or a pair of warm slippers, a warm hat or warm socks. Are you thinking about Valentine's Day yet? We are! We are again offering our delicious sugar cookies, appropriately decorated for Valentine's Day, for $25/dozen. In addition to offering the cookies, we are doing a project in support of the people who use the Moss Park Overdose Prevention Site. For $15.00 we will provide a cookie and a either a gift card ($10 Tim Horton's card) or a warm pair of socks, warm hat, or warm slippers. You can sponsor one or more of the gift packs, and we will include a note on the pack thanking you (using your initials). Let's show people who use drugs that we love them this Valentine's Day! (The warm hats and slippers are being donated by my amazing sister!)

Hello wonderful customers. I wanted to post an update on the Cakes for Jenny project that happened over the 2018 Holiday period. In total over $1,100.00 was raised and donated to Toronto Overdose Prevention Society and the Moss Park Overdose Prevention Site. In addition, two cakes were donated to Nellie's Shelter's Holiday Online Auction, and those cakes raised $150.00. Your support means to the world to me!

Just an update: So far over $700 has been donated to the Toronto Overdose Prevention Society through the Cakes for Jenny project. If you haven't picked up your cakes yet, or if you are going to pick them up later, please be sure to go to the site and make your donation. Thanks again for all your support, in total $1000 will have been donated to the TOPS when all cakes are picked up and paid for. It is a great feeling.

Did you order A Cake for Jenny cake? These are the first few orders going out the door. If you've ordered a cake, please contact me to arrange pickup. Thank you so much for your support. For those that purchased and asked for your cakes to be donated, I am happy to report that the cakes were donated to Nellie's Holiday Auction and were purchased for full price helping to raise $150 for Nellie's. I've attached photos of the two cakes donated. In total, the Cake for Jenny project generated $875 in donations to the Toronto Overdose Prevention Society. On behalf of me and all those who love Jenny, thank you.
