News update from Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital - HGMH

HGMH is urging residents who are not symptomatic or who have mild COVID19 symptoms to avoid the Emergency Department.
As the COVID-19 Omicron variant continues to expand its reach around the world and right here at home, demand is growing for PCR tests. As a result, individuals may experience longer waits for appointments at assessment centres. This has led to more people seeking to have the PCR test performed in our local Emergency Department.
We must continue to preserve our Emergency Department resources for emergency situations. We are not able to provide PCR testing to the general public. The public is encouraged to continue to contact the assessment centres and most importantly, if anyone has ANY symptoms consistent with COVID-19, at this time, they must remain at home and follow the current public health guidelines.
Anyone experiencing severe symptoms or or an urgent condition should call 911 or visit their nearest Emergency Department.

HGMH désire informer les résidents qui n'ont pas de symptômes ou qui présentent des symptômes légers de COVID-19 à éviter le service des urgences.
Alors que la variante COVID-19 Omicron continue de se répandre à travers le monde et ici même chez nous, la demande pour les tests PCR augmente. Par conséquent, les temps d'attente pour les rendez-vous aux centres d'évaluation et de dépistage sont plus longs. Ceci a conduit à plusieurs personnes à se rendre à notre service d'urgence pour demander que le test PCR soit effectué.
Nous devons continuer à préserver les ressources de notre service d'urgence pour les situations d'urgence. Nous ne sommes pas en mesure de fournir des tests PCR au grand public. Le public est encouragé à continuer à contacter les centres d'évaluation et, plus encore, si quelqu'un présente des symptômes ressemblant à la COVID-19, celui-ci doit demeurer à la maison et suivre les directives de la santé publique actuellement en vigueur.
Toute personne présentant des symptômes graves ou une condition urgente doit appeler le 911 ou se rendre au service d'urgence le plus proche.
