This week was one of those weeks where you look around and realize “holy, we’re doing this”. Full of ups and downs, it was chaotic and messy but also rewarding and fulfilling and hopeful.
Between animals running amuck around the farm and neighbours’ properties to losing chicks in an attack to baking bread at 1am, moments of peace and joy and hope and gratitude were still found.
Things are taking shape here, and this is only the beginning. It’s hard not to feel excited, as overwhelming as it can be (and it only gets more from here!) The garden still needs so much time. The plants need to be planted, the weeds need to be pulled. We have more laying hens coming this week, and we have two more markets starting in three weeks. It’s full on from here on out. But you know what? That’s okay.
Beginnings are never clear or clean or easy. This is the start of something, of something new and wonderful. And I can feel it so strongly right now.
If you’re interested in homesteading or farming and you’re in the South Shore of Nova Scotia, message us. Come see what we’re doing. Get your hands in the soil. Scratch some pigs. Hug a tree and talk to a berry bush.
Come feel and taste and see what we’re talking about.
