It's with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closure of our Monkland location on March 11th, 2019.

We were unfortunately unable to re-negotiate our lease with the building owners.

Our Monkland location has been open for 18 years. We feel so lucky to have been part of the amazing community of NDG for so long. Thank you to all of our loyal customers for the overwhelming support over the years.

We would like to take a moment to say a special thank you to our incredible staff, without whom we wouldn't have made it this far. We are losing a big part of the bagel family and we are heartbroken.

We live in new times when health and safety concerns often clash with traditions — and Montreal’s wood-fired bagel is under fire.

St-Viateur Bagel is committed to making bagels in the traditional Montreal fashion. This means that all of our bagels are hand rolled, boiled in honey water and then baked in a wood-fired oven. We are also committed to reducing our fine particle emissions that result from burning wood. We have been diligent and proactive in this pursuit and we are proud of the gains we have made.

St-Viateur Bagel has developed a filter that reduces our total emissions from the burning of hardwood by 99%. This device has been in operation since the start of 2018 and has successfully passed all emission compliance tests performed by the Environmental division of the city of Montreal.
