The results are in! ✨

If you followed along in the stories, you know today was the day I attempted my first sourdough loaf. 🍞

The results are in...
And the verdict is....
🥁 🥁 🥁
SUCCESS!

I feel the bake time needs to be tweaked a little, but overall rather satisfying to finally see this come to life!

I thank its success partly on the fact that the long fermented loaf is done in the same way as sourdough, so I knew what to look for when building the structure.

Next test will be tweaking the bake time!

Guess who’s back? 👀🌶️🧀

The Jalapeño Cheddar bagel is making a little comeback!
Cheesy, a little spicy, and apparently one of those flavours you guys did not forget.

So, for the next TWO WEEKS ONLY, Jalapeño Cheddar is officially back on the menu at MmBakes by Mash | Artisanal Plant Based Baker 🇨🇦🌱. Find her booth at Mission City Farmers Market Saturday September 12th and 19th.

After that? Back into the vault it goes. 👋😂

If you’ve been missing this one, now’s your chance!

I opened this bag fully expecting to find a science experiment. 🫠

We bought these hamburger buns almost TWO MONTHS ago. Used a few, closed the bag, used a few more, and then they just... sat on the counter.

No mold. No weird smell. They're not even particularly stale.

Meanwhile, the breads I make barely survive 5 days on the counter.

And yes, I know a best before date isn't an expiration date. And clearly I buy grocery store bread too — sometimes you need two buns and you're not making an entire batch. 😂

But it did make me wonder when we started thinking bread lasting this long was normal.

Maybe bread going stale isn't such a bad thing after all. ❤️

Support your local microbakers. We make bread that actually knows how to die. 😂

Saturday Market was splendid 😍
Thank you to everyone who came out, stop by, shopped with us or simply chatted with us ❤️

SOLD OUT! 🥹❤️

Yesterday was one of those market days that reminds me why I keep doing this.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, whether you came specifically looking for me, grabbed something on a whim, came back for a favourite, or just stopped to chat. You guys cleared me out. 😭

Most went at the market, and the rest went after! I didn't even have time to post about what I had left before a lovely lady messaged me asking if she could grab it. ❤️

There is something incredibly satisfying about this feeling, especially knowing just how many hours of mixing, shaping, baking, glazing, packing (and questioning my life choices 😂) went into preparing everything in the first place.

I am tired. My kitchen is tired. My mixer is probably tired.
But I am VERY grateful. ❤️

Thank you for another wonderful market day, Mission!

Time to rest, reset and get back to it September 11th.
