So you all may remember that a couple months ago I was "stood up" on a cake order! I saved the fondant decorations I made for it because I knew I would make this cake for someone's birthday. So, today it was my work bestie's birthday along with another friend in our department so I made a his and hers. (And no these weren't commissioned! ) I made them for a gift for these friends and took them to work and we all enjoyed cake for breakfast at our 8:30 am store huddle!!! Happy Birthdays Liz and Tony!

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a huge Freddie Mercury Fan! Would have been his 77th Birthday today. (No I did not make this cake!) But maybe I will make a similar one in the future!

Ok! So I talked to bylaws today, and decided with very mixed emotions, that at this time, I will not be continuing. Now that's not to say that I will never come back to doing this, but as for now this has been quite stressful. (thanks to a not so neighbourly neighbour!)
Baking was a stress reliever for me! It's just a lot to deal with at the moment. I will at some point down the road look into this more extensively, but right now just can't deal with it!

I thank you all for your support and understanding. And yes it sucks! Gotta find a new hobby I guess!

I am leaving my page up until I figure out what the next steps are to make this legit! The very nice bylaws officer wants to work with me to make this a success and get this going. So....stay tuned. I WILL NOT BE TAKING ANY ORDERS UNTIL THIS ALL GETS SORTED OUT! I will however, be posting updates.

Hey all of my followers and supporters of my hobby baking page! It saddens me to say that I will no longer be baking out of my home. A neighbor on my block has reported me to bylaws (the only time they would come out apparently) and I would have to get a business license as well as a Fraser Health Inspection to continue (which I had no idea honestly as there are so many home based businesses and bakers out there.) I can tell you that this really saddens me, not only because of the trust I thought we had with our neighbours, but also that this is truly a hobby that I love, with any monies going back into buying supplies and buying things for food hampers to donate to people. I am super stressed out about this and wanted to thank everyone for their support. I am truly sorry.

People often ask when they order a cake when it will be made. and what the process for ordering is.

- We confirm the order by an agreement made via messenger here
- Once confirmed I mark a spot on my calendar for the bake and decorating process
- I usually bake the actual cake a day or two in advance so that the cake has a chance to firm up in the refrigerator (wrapped and bagged of course! Not doing this makes for a vary unstable cake.)
- I make any custom fondant decorations up to a week in advance.
- I order any toppers or special items up to two weeks in advance, in order to be able to get what a person really wants for their special cake/cupcakes.
- I crumb coat the cake, frost/decorate and box it up the day before pick up date.

I am very trusting (but not naive!) when someone orders a cake for a special occasion that they actually need it for that important event, therefore never ask for a deposit....and it has worked out just great for the past two+ years until recently, when a custom cake was ordered well in advance for a very specific themed party, communication was great and cake was booked. At that point I ordered a topper from Amazon (about 4 weeks ahead of time) Then the week before, I started all of the fondant decorations for the cake and cupcakes( which doesn't cost much but it takes a lot of time!)
The beginning of the pick up week, I messaged as I said I would and always do to confirm delivery address etc. - no response. It was July 1st so I thought maybe they were away. Messaged the next day, and the next, and the next - just like that I had been ghosted on the cake order.
While I wouldn't have minded at that point any reason for cancellation, things happen...but not even any reply is just crappy.

Long story longer!! LOL - I WILL NOW BE REQUIRING A SMALL DEPOSIT TO HOLD EVERY BOOKING THAT WILL BE REFUNDABLE ONLY IF CANCELLED A WEEK PRIOR TO PICK UP DATE! Sorry

On another note fondant decorations keep a very long time when properly stored - so if anyone needs a "Princess" themed cake/cupcakes - you're in luck!
