I apologize in advance for the long post.
Good evening all, I know I have been dormant for a bit and not taking any orders for the past month and had already posted I would not be doing orders for the next month either, but a new situation has arisen that will make this a more permanent end. In the last week several people have tagged me in cake and cupcake recommendations online, thank you so much for the recommendations, I am so glad that you have been satisfied with your cakes and found I was good to deal with :) Although I was super excited you chose to recommend me, apparently others were not as enthused and in turn someone contacted the department of health over their "concern" that I was running and unauthorized bakery 😏 Although I wouldn't consider myself a bakery per say, as I work full time, am going to school and only do cakes and cupcakes on occasion (predominantly for friends and family with the exception of mixed boxes every couple of months and I turn down way more orders then I ever take and donate almost as many cupcakes as I sell to fundraisers that are going on in the community). I was informed today I can no longer sell on a page, since I do not have a commercial kitchen. I am eligible to sell at markets (not sure what the difference. is), however working full time eliminates this option for me. I have a lot going on and at this time converting to a commercialize kitchen is just not an option for my own sanity and for the fact it would take me 20+ years at the rate I am going to cover the cost. This was simply a hobby I enjoyed, I love creating and pushing myself to craft what others are imaging. It was never anything I really made a lot of money at, especially given the time that went in to specialty cakes that often took 10+ hrs and time away from my kids. It is disappointing for me and I am sad, but it is not worth the risk of a fine. To those I have already agreed to donate cupcakes too I will be calling the department of health tomorrow to see if I am still allowed to give cupcakes away, their was no caller ID on the call today and not a lot of detail, other than if I didn't have a commercial kitchen I could no longer sell to the public outside of a market and I must stop immediately. I was too shocked that someone would be that upset that I sold a few cakes and cupcakes to even really think of things to ask. But I will ensure you get your donations even if I have to buy them or donate something else instead, as I will not go back on my word. I only have 2 cakes and 2 dozen cupcakes booked until the end of the year, that are paid orders and not for family and close friends, so it should not cause too much of a disturbance, but I do apologize just the same. Sad it has to end like this but it was a fantastic ride :) I will post a few pics of cakes from over the past few months that have not been posted. I haven't decided what I will do with this page, but for now it will remain open as I do have a pretty cool cake coming up for my son's bestie that I would like to share (provided it turns out 😂). I will continue to create and design when I can and maybe someday I will be back at it...until then my kids are going to have fancy cakes every week...think this will work in to their advantage but may need them to be tested for diabetes in a few months😂
