One year ago today, I moved into Sunset Haven. ❤️

I knew I was moving into a new home. I don’t think I could possibly have known how much of a new life would be built here too.

It’s been quite a year of becoming — of letting go, beginning again, finding community, following joy, and discovering just how much can change in twelve months.

Somewhere along the way, I didn’t just name this place Sunset Haven. I created a haven.

And tonight, looking out at this water I love so much, I’m feeling enormously grateful to be home.

Here’s to Year Two. ❤️⚡️

Today, an executive order attempted to rename Lake Ontario.
We created this bar to keep the name Lake Ontario visible. “ONTARÍ’IO” is an Indigenous name that existed long before today’s borders. That history should not be erased.
So we put the name where people can see it: on a Canadian-made chocolate bar, as part of our long-standing Canada Collection.

It was Lake Ontario yesterday. It is Lake Ontario today. And it will be Lake Ontario tomorrow. 🇨🇦

Joy Bingo square activated! 🎉☀️

Today I stopped in at Rustic Tub to give my friend Brendan his own copy of my recent Neighbours of Tiny article, “Joy Bingo: Noticing the Little Glimmers”—because he happens to be part of it!

One of the things I love about small-town life is the way one happy encounter can ripple outward. A visit becomes a connection; a connection becomes a story; and the story leads to another visit, a few Sunnyside Su treats and—naturally—a selfie!

Kevin is absolutely outstanding!!
I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Since moving into my home, I have had ongoing “water drama” — clogged sinks, running toilets, water softener issues, and some poorly designed old pipe systems. Kevin has been there through all of it with skill, knowledge, patience, humour, and total professionalism.

Most recently, he solved a long-standing drainage issue once and for all. He opened things up, showed me exactly what had been causing the problem, took photos so I could actually see the issue, replaced the awkward pipe setup with a much better configuration, and left me with beautifully clear pipes and a sink that finally drains properly.

Kevin is prompt, dependable, honest, practical, friendly, and trustworthy. He explains what is going on, finds real solutions, and does excellent work. I trust him completely and am very grateful to have found someone so reliable and skilled locally.
