June 1 the St.Vincent Bread club had their 3rd meeting. All 16 members attended. We had a guest speaker Jody Seeley talk about Sour Dough. On our page Jody has shared info on sour dough. Not only did the members learn something the leaders also learn something.! Grace Woodhouse was our President of the meeting and she present the club with a slide on judging and a video of judges judging at a fair and explaining about the bread. Grace reminded the members during the meeting that everyday you judge. You judge what breakfast you want to eat, what clothes you want to eat, what tv show you want to watch. You don’t realize but you do it all the time. It was a very interesting meeting enjoyed by everyone. It was great to hear all the fun the members are having making their bread and other goodies. Some of the members show us visually their snack of bread they want to share but couldn’t. Cross our fingers one day we will! Our next meeting will be June 15.

Part 2 from Jody

I made the sourdough bread and then discovered a recipe that mimics sourdough but with way less work. I tweaked it and created this version.
Jodys ‘OMG - where have you been my whole life 2020 pandemic bread’. !!
Enjoy.
3 cups all purpose flour (make sure flour is aerated - super important)
1/4 tsp yeast
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups hot tap water (NOT boiled water)
Gently mix by hand the flour, yeast and water. Cover in bowl with Saran Wrap for 10 minutes. Add the salt and gently blend. Re cover the bowl and let sit for 3 hours just on counter.
Turn oven to 450degrees.
Transfer dough to floured surface. Gently fold, rotating each time, no more then 10 times. (Sourdough folding style) Cover with cloth.
Put cast iron Dutch oven with lid in oven to heat.
Wait 20-30 minutes before removing from oven.
Immediately put the dough rough side down in hot pan.
Take sharp knife and slice top in x pattern. Put lid on and return to oven.
Cook for 30 minutes. Take lid off and continue to bake for 10-15 minutes.
Allow to cool fully before cutting.

Tonight the St. Vincent Bread Club had their 2nd Meeting. We had a fact and friction game. We had a video on how to knead bread. Jeopardy game. Tonight Renayla Campbell was our President. She put a slide show togeather for our members with questions and answer on Nutritional Facts Game. A great night had by all! Next meeting will be Monday June 1st at 7pm on zoom.
