National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, September 30th, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

As a business operating in Unama’ki, within Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq, we recognize that today is about much more than wearing orange.

Today we honour and remember the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the generations who continue to live with the impacts of the residential school system.

We encourage our community to take time today to learn about the history and lasting impacts of residential schools, listen to Indigenous voices, and consider the role each of us can play in reconciliation.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

We will be open tomorrow, September 30th 🧡

Both The Dancing Goat locations will be open tomorrow for our regular hours, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM.

While our doors will be open, we recognize that September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and a day of remembrance, reflection, and learning.

Our team will be wearing orange in recognition of Orange Shirt Day and to honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors, their families, and the Indigenous communities.

September 11 — We Remember

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 24 Canadians who never made it home.

We remember the victims, their families and loved ones, the first responders who ran toward danger, and all those whose lives were forever changed that day.

Twenty-five years later, we will never forget. ❤️

As another busy summer comes to an end, we want to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to our incredible Dancing Goat team. 🐐🤍

Summer at the Goat is no small feat… the long days, busy weekends, lineups out the door and endless sandwiches, coffees and baked goods! We truly couldn’t do what we do without the amazing people behind the scenes making it all happen.

To every single person who showed up, worked hard, helped each other out and kept smiling through the craziness… thank you. We appreciate you more than you know and are so proud of the team we have at both Margaree and Inverness.

And to our students and seasonal staff heading back to school or onto their next adventure, we’re going to miss you! Thank you for spending your summer with us, and we wish you nothing but the best in the year ahead. ❤️

And of course, a huge thank you to all of our amazing customers. Whether you’re a familiar face we see all year long, a summer visitor who makes the Goat part of your Cape Breton travels, or someone who stopped in for the very first time this summer… thank you for choosing us. Every coffee, sandwich, sweet treat, friendly conversation and visit means more to us than you know. Your support keeps us doing what we love, and we are incredibly grateful. ❤️
