The blueberries that were still firm Sept 1 are now rapidly falling to the ground, acting as fertilizer for next year's crop. It is also during September that the fruit buds are forming for that new crop, helped along by the ground water from the August rains and those expected this month. I will now return to the winter-long task of pruning the bushes and cutting back weeds.

Many thanks to all the customers who came for blueberries this year. We actually had more pounds of U-pick than any other year since 1998. I really loved meeting and chatting with you all!

The weather has been good, and the main field is now open for picking. U-pickers may use their own pails or ours, but ideally bring boxes to take their berries home. Wear sturdy shoes, since we use no chemicals to control weeds. The attached photo was taken just minutes ago.

The blueberries have been in full bloom for a couple of weeks now, and it looks like a good crop this year. The bushes are still alive with bees doing what they do best. Better pollination makes for bigger and better tasting berries.

We still use absolutely no pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or any other sprays or chemicals. Not on the bushes, not on the weeds, not at any time of the year.

The recent rains have speeded up ripening, and the blueberries in the field are now over-ripe and soft, calling for an end to the season.

I sincerely thank all my customers. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with you, and I hope you enjoy the blueberries. I look forward to your return next July. I will now return to pruning the bushes, ahead of the blossoms next May.

The berries are plentiful, and have ripened enough to open the field to U-pick. The photos were taken the morning of July 15.

As always, we still use no chemicals or sprays of any kind at any time of year, not on berries, bushes, or weeds. No chemical fertilizers either.

The price for U-pick remains the same as the last couple of years, $2 per pound. No admission fee, no minimum. U-pickers may use our pails and totes, or your own.

Call for availability of boxed and sorted (for ripeness) blueberries.

We are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (or dark) daily, including weekends. Ideally, bring lots of boxes to haul your harvest home, though we usually have enough flats and boxes if your harvest is too large.

What a difference a year makes! Lots of lovely blueberry blossoms, a huge improvement over last year's damage from drought and late frost. These pictures were taken a few hours ago. Now we need lots of bee activity. You can see one of our little pollinators hard at work. They also appreciate that we use no insecticides, or any other chemicals for that matter!

Another blueberry season has come to a close, and we go back to pruning bushes. A big thank you to all our customers! 🙂

Some U-pickers are still gathering berries for drying, or for jams or baking. We will stay open for anyone wishing to continue that, just give me a phone call.

The blueberries are ripening, and the whole field is now open for U-pick. The picture was taken minutes ago. You still have to pick carefully to get the ripe ones. They will gain in sweetness as the days go by, so by next weekend they should be really good😊.

The price for U-pick is $2 per pound. We are open from 8 am to 9 pm daily. Even earlier picking is OK as long as weighing is done after 8 am.

After a cold and wet spring, the blueberries have been in full bloom for about a week now. With the recent warm weather, the bees are making up for lost time, gathering nectar and pollinating our berries. These pictures were taken a couple of hours ago. We will soon be looking for berry pickers again, to add to our list of regulars. If you know persons who might like to pick at their own pace, their own hours (mornings, evenings, whatever) and days, have them call us for details.

The 2021 season is coming to a close with the September rains.
These are very important for next year's fruit buds which are now forming. Thanks to all of our friends and customers who supported us again this year.

Our last "customers" have been thousands of starlings that have descended on our field to glean what remains of the crop. It really is lovely to see clouds of these birds gracefully swirling through the sky, beautifully choreographed in perfect synchronism. I'm glad they waited until now, though.

We will now do a final clearing of the aisles, and then several months of pruning the bushes for next year. We look forward to seeing you all then! 😊
