Lafrenaie Lasalle

Les Délices Lafrenaie is a family owned business dating back to 1979. In the summer 1979 Giuseppe Ruvo (Sr.) along with two of sons decided to embark on a new journey. They purchased Milano bakery located at 5866 Jean Talon Est, Saint Leonard, QC. On July 1, 1979 the Ruvo family officially took over and began serving up bread, cakes and pastries to the Saint-Leonard community. Business flourished and Milano bakery began serving restaurants, halls and distributors.

The present Les Délices Lafrenaie location in Saint-Leonard opened in the early 1990’s serving only the wholesale industry and seeing that space and storage were tight at Milano, all goods were produced on Jean Talon and stored at Lafrenaie. In 1998, due to the economic boom of grocery stores, business at Milano was decreasing and the Ruvo family ultimately had to make the hardest decision of their lives. With heavy hearts, they sold Milano bakery and moved all of their wholesale business to our Lafrenaie location.

Business was stable and some loyal clients would occasionally knock on the door and ask for some cakes or cookies. Seeing these were loyal clients from 1979, custom orders for cakes and desserts would be made on order only. Little did the Ruvo family know, this started a phenomenon and more and more people began calling. Frank Ruvo decided to setup a small 100 square foot store front. The Saint-Léonard location officially opened its doors to the public in the late 1990’s and it has been serving up tasty desserts since. What started off as a small local bakery has now turned into a 6 store operation, the original being in Saint-Léonard and 5 retail stores, one in Lasalle (opened in 2017), one in Montreal-Ouest (opened in 2017), one in Brossard (opened in 2013) one in Pointe-Claire (opened in 2011) and the other in Rosemère (opened in 2008).
