Somehow Thanksgiving is almost here & we've got all the sweets & treats you need to celebrate the holiday this weekend!

Wednesday, October 7th - online ordering opens at 8pm at www.thebackfortybaker.com. Place your order for pick up Thursday/Friday this week or scope out the treat selection we'll have on tap in the bakery!

Thursday, October 8th - the bakery is open for walk-ins from 9am - 4:30pm

Friday, October 9th - the bakery is open for walk-ins from 9am - 6pm

Saturday, October 10th - you can catch us at the October Food Fest, taking place at 856 Queen Street in front of the Commonplace Food Truck Lot. There will be an incredible variety of food vendors & live music. Come on down and celebrate on Queen Street with us from 11am - 6pm (or until supplies last).

Time is flying in the Back Forty and another new month is rolling in!

Here's what we're up to this month!

With hockey & harvest seasons in full swing there's been a small change to our Thursday hours - we will now be closing at 4:30pm Thursdays for the time being.

Join us on Saturday, October 10th for the October Food Fest in Kincardine at the Commonplace Food Truck Lot (856 Queen St) from 11am - 6pm. More details to come on that later!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year - Ripley Fall Fair weekend!

The case is fully loaded for all of your entertainment needs this weekend - save yourself time in the kitchen & swing by the bakery to stock up on sweets!

We’ll be open today until 6pm and Friday from 9am - 6pm. We will be closed this Saturday to soak up some family time at the Ripley Fall Fair 🩷. See you there!

What an absolutely incredible time at the Fall Harvest Market downtown Kincardine yesterday! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everyone that stopped by to snag some sweets this weekend at the bakery, as well as the market - your support never ceases to amaze me 🩷

Thank you to Amanda and the Kincardine BIA as well for putting on yet another great event. There is so much extra work that goes on behind the scenes to make these things happen all year round (including our beloved Market in the Park). We truly appreciate all of your hard work & dedication 🩷

The market yesterday proved something I’ve said time & time again - there’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve got the best customers & I’m forever grateful for that. Every single person that came by the booth was enthusiastic, supportive, cheerful and patient (which we really appreciate on busy days like that). I came to the bakery this morning to discover this ultra-sweet, heartwarming message in my inbox from one of my amazing supporters that we saw at the market yesterday 🥹🥰.

Messages like this keep me floating on cloud nine all day long and it brings me immense joy knowing that my baking is bringing sunshine into your lives as well ☀️. The late nights, early mornings, tired feet and all of the other shenanigans in-between are all worth it when I receive notes like the one below 🩷

It’s been an incredible journey thus far and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for The Back Forty Baker moving ahead. I’ll continue to lead the secret baking society with pride & I look forward to seeing you again soon! 🍂 👩🏼‍🍳

Such an amazing community we live in! You guys sure showed up for this fundraiser! Hoping to do another Pedals of Possibilities soon! Check out the write up… and this is all because of you guys!!

A new set of wheels is opening a world of possibilities for nine-year-old Layla Thompson of Kincardine, thanks to the generosity of the community and the Pedals of Possibility fund-raiser.
Pedals of Possibility, organized by Cody Russwurm of Cody’s Egg Shack in Walkerton, raised funds to provide specialized, accessible bikes and tricycles to local children with mobility needs. This gives each child the opportunity to experience the freedom, independence and joy that comes with riding a bike.
Layla was one of the lucky recipients, and her family says she has been loving every minute of it!
“Layla has enjoyed using her new bike so much," says her mother, Erin. "We have been up and down the southline visiting family, and the girls were especially excited to bike to the Back Forty Baker's shop for some treats from Becca Farrell! We are so thankful to Cody and his family for making this happen for Layla!”
The new trike has given Layla the opportunity to join her sisters on their biking adventures —something her family is especially excited about.
For Layla and her family, this isn't just a new bike— it's a chance to participate, explore, build independence and make memories together with her sisters.
A huge thank you to Cody and everyone who supported Pedals of Possibility for helping make these special moments possible. What an amazing reminder of what can happen when a community works together to create possibilities for everyone!
