Ours is simple on purpose: a smooth, gently spiced pumpkin custard, baked slowly in a flaky, buttery pastry until it just sets. It is Thanksgiving Sunday, and the shop smells like butter, thyme and pumpkin spice. The pot pies, meat pies and scones are coming out of the oven in rounds. The pumpkin pies are cooling on the racks, and we are setting everything out for the families who are missing the last touches for the table. Today is your last chance to pick up before the holiday, since we are closed on Monday so our team can celebrate too. We are open regular hours today and would love to see you. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at La Maison du Kouign-Amann. This weekend we are thinking about full tables, second helpings and the people we are lucky enough to share them with. You are a big part of that for us, and we are grateful for every visit this year.

A note before the long weekend: we will be CLOSED on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, so our small and hard-working team can rest and enjoy the holiday with their own families. We are open Sunday for any last-minute treats, and we will be back Tuesday morning. Thank you for understanding, and for being part of our story.

There is a particular kind of quiet that settles over the kitchen when the pot pies come out of the oven. The pastry crackles as it cools, the filling bubbles at the edges, and for a moment everyone stops to look. We make these the slow way, with all-butter puff pastry layered by hand and chicken simmered until it falls apart into the sauce with peas and carrots. Ready for your Thanksgiving table this weekend. Thanksgiving weekend is here, and the ovens have been going since before sunrise. Our chicken pot pie comes out golden and flaky, filled with tender chicken, sweet peas and carrots in a creamy sauce that tastes like someone's grandmother made it. Our pumpkin pie is smooth and gently spiced, baked in the same buttery pastry we use for everything. And if pie isn't your thing, the case is full of lemon tarts, cake slices and French pastries that disappear fast on long weekends.
